I am not an expert in this area, but I would just tell your old insurance company for now, as there may end up being nothing to tell the new insurers.smashingyour... wrote:They'll probably just pay out, it'll cost them more to fight it.
Would it really cost an insurance company much to fight this? I'd love to know either way but I can't really see a company that presumably employs it's own legal staff not fighting a claim like this.0 -

You should have already told your new insurer about the incident as part of your DH's history when applying to them for your policy.
If you did not do so then (ie disclose the incident) then do so ASAP.Ultrasonic wrote: »I am not an expert in this area, but I would just tell your old insurance company for now, as there may end up being nothing to tell the new insurers.....
(Ignore this. Not disclosing this when you joined the new company does give them the opportunity to void your policy when they discover the truth and think you did it deliberately, bad news if this is after a claim sometime in the future)0 -
I did tell new insurers about incident but that it was à no claim incident which it was at the time but that changed yesterday when we found out they had put claim in ?
Do i need to tell them that a claim has been put in?
The old insurers are disputing the value as it has, been six months since incident so the driver could have done lots to.his van in that time. I am sooo annoyed we forgit to take à photo!0 -

I was assuming that the OP had previously disclosed it to the insurance company - we have no reason to suspect otherwise. I was referring specifically to responding to the current issue.0 -

Yes tell them the incident previously disclosed is now a fault claim (and what effect it has on your ncd).0 -
Asked old insurer who said no need to notify new insurer, not sure I agree?0

Yes you (though it will probably the policyholder) does need to inform the insurer about the claim.0 -
