  • Another lovely day yesterday, we went down the beach and built a massive sandcastle then home for homemade pizza. I made lots of accompaniments for meals red cabbage coleslaw, guacamole and yoghurt with mint. We had the remainder of the tomato soup for tea with the falafels and coleslaw etc, then sliced oranges with warmed mixed fruit. Some fruit left over so I had it on my porridge this morning.

I can definitely get so much down when I'm not at work!

Decorations are down, put away and lounge back to normal yay. Nothing money related today although I need to fill up the car with fuel and use the 20p per litre saving, I will also see if the cash 4 clothes place is open.

Right off to make lunch then soup and rolls for tea, hope everyone has a good evening.

  • Well after saying that there was no money news an envelope arrived in the post with a note from my sister (the one who hasn't spoken to me for 6 months) saying there was a cheque enclosed from my grandad to use for whatever we wanted. Sister did not write anything else and didn't even put her name!

Anyway back to more important things the enclosed cheque was for £300 :j:D:T

I will let hubby have a bit towards some camping kit that he needs and the rest will be split between the savings and a bit on the credit card. I will give him a ring tomorrow to wish him a happy new year and thank him.

What a great end to the year, roll on 2015 :snow_grin

  • Sorry miserable post alert!

Well my joy at receiving the money is short lived as this morning we discovered that the boiler is leaking, the pressure kept dropping over the last few days but I couldn't see where there was a leak, anyway we have found it and luckily it's just drips at the moment but obviously we will need to call the heating engineer tomorrow.

So no money being used until we know how much it will cost to get fixed, let's look at the positives; at least we have the extra money, it's not a catastrophe at the moment.

A lovely chilled out day today except I have finished tidying dd bedroom, she did half yesterday and I agreed to do the other half. Just the attic to sort with ds clothes and toys everywhere.

Hope we can sort the boiler quickly and get on with our plans.

  • Feeling at bit more positive today, I have been over to the bank to pay in the cheque and have left a message with the heating engineer so will just take it as it comes. The leak is very slow and mainly when the boiler is in use so when I checked this morning there wasn't much water in the bowl.

I am really pleased with the meal plan, we have enjoyed every meal (the kids have not taken to everything) a few little alterations to suit our tastes but over all great. We have lots of food left including things for today and tomorrow and still should have some bits and pieces to carry over to next week. We need to look at the best things for packed lunches to carry on with the veggie theme and am sure we can do this to suit both us and the kids. DH has been making great bread rolls and loaves, this is definitely his job!

DH also mentioned that the contract for his ipad ends in February so will phone up and cancel in a couple of weeks as he doesn't need a data contract, this will be a saving of £30 a month :T He has been great with the debt busting in recent times, he even brought his camping kit with vouchers and is saving for something else he needs.

I still need to submit my pay claim for second job so will get on with that, I have also got child benefit coming in on Tuesday which always helps with the budget.

So no more negative thoughts, get sorted and move on.

Bad news about the boiler chrysalis. I guess it would have happened anyway even without the chequeao at least you're not dipping into your own money too much, well hopefully.

Kids bedrooms are a nightmare. I went into DS's this morning and asked him if he had been burgled. He just looked at me funny but he is only 3 1\2. Little devil had emptied all his draws.

Good news on the £30 saving. That's a good chunk over the year.

    Have a good day.
