Unsolicited harassment calls after joining Cheap Energy Club
Options
I Joined your Cheap Energy Club on the 17th of July.
After doing so I have began to receive many nuisance cold calls in my home!
These persistent pests are attempting to sell energy saving products, so it is hardly coincidence.
I am registered with the TPS, and when these callers are informed of this they insist it is a survey and they do not have to follow TPS rules.
I have been registered with the TPS for many years and never receive cold calls from sellers, or even these so called surveys. (I do receive the odd call from Indian scammers).
Only since joining your Cheap Energy Club have I started to receive these harassment calls.
These phone calls are unsolicited and unwanted.
I never agreed for you to sell my personal details to anybody, especially companys' who use these methods to sell products, exploit the TPS and ultimately turn out to be scams who steal money from unsuspecting and innocent folk.
Why have you done this?
Please provide the information that I need to have my personal and private details, that it appears you have sold to these people, removed from any lists that you may have and from your partners also.

Genuine research calls are not deemed as direct marketing as they generally relate to information gathering or seeking of opinions whereas the purpose of a direct marketing call would be to sell or market a product or service. If you want to stop these calls you will need to contact the companies that make them directly or inform the caller that the call and any future calls from them is not welcomed. Additionally, you can also request that they suppress your details. They are obliged to comply with your request. If the company continues to call disregarding your request you may seek further guidance from the Market Research Society (MRS), furthermore the MRS has a code of conduct which all its members must comply with. Their details are:Market Research Society (MRS)
15 Northburgh Street, London
EC1V 0JR
Tel: 02074904911
Fax: 02074900608
Web: www.mrs.org.ukIf you believe that the purpose of the call was sales/marketing but made under the guise of market research please log your complaint with TPS as receipt of a sales/marketing call.
The TPS does not affect a direct marketer from calling you where you have previously given permission. You can withdraw such permission by informing the direct marketer accordingly.0 -
Surely this can't be true as IIRC Martin stated that the info given wouldn't be used for third party marketing purposes (this was in response to several posters, myself included and you as well Wywth IIRC, querying why an actual address was required as opposed to just a post code that most similar sites required). Has there been a change or is this just co-incidence?0
-
Well the OP has just assumed a causal link rather than demonstrating one.0
-
Have had TPS for many Years and likewise get inundated with these energy saving calls. It's no coincidence OP as I have NEVER signed up to the Cheap Energy Club.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Marleyboy You Are A Legend!
Marleyboy speaks sense
marleyboy (total legend)
Marleyboy - You are, indeed, a legend.0 -

Well from a sample of two people - post#5 and myself - it has been conclusively proven;) it is a co-incidence!
I have similarly had a couple of calls recently - likewise TPS registered and haven't signed for Energy club.
Calls from an 'international number' - clearly a foreign accent and opening line is to enquire 'How are you today?'0 -
Hi all,
I just wanted to reiterate that we absolutely do not pass on details for marketing purposes. In this case, it really is a coincidence.
As Wywth said, the best thing to do is complain to TPS and if you manage to get the company's details, ask them to remove you from its database.
We think there may be an increase in these calls due to the new eco/green deal measures that the Government is promoting.
I hope this helps.

Many of you have hurried to defend and state that it is a coincidence then go on to say you have not even signed up for the Cheap Energy Club!
I really doubt that it is coincidence.
Unlike Marleyboy I was not inundated with energy saving calls.
As I said, for many years I have had no sales calls or even these bogus survey calls.
Only since joining the Money Saving Expert Cheap Energy Club on the 17th of July, 9 days ago, have I started to get these up to 3 times a day!
I am very careful who I give my private and personal details to. I can number the company’s on one hand that I have given these to.
I have foolishly trusted Money Saving Expert, and now really wish I had not.
I came to these forums to look for information on how to have my personal and private information removed from any database held by Money Saving Expert, which I highly suspect they have also sold to dubious, possible criminal, company’s.
It is a shame that a representative of Money Saving Expert has posted here only to make denials instead of offer any relevant assistance. (I have complained to the TPS).
I cannot find any other way to make contact with Money Saving Expert. There are no relevant phone numbers or even an email address I can use to have this matter attended to in an appropriate manner.0 -

Are you calling MSE Kalah a liar?
If so, I don't think that is a very nice thing to do, especially to a newbie, especially to an MSE employee, and especially when it is one that has given you the answer to the question (even if you don't like it)Unlike Marleyboy I was not inundated with energy saving calls.

You won't get a different answer, no matter how they communicate it to you.0 -
Wywth I never called anybody a liar! I find it very offensive that you have even suggested that!
I don't know what your agenda is here but I most defiantly do not appreciate the way you have attempted to make a fool of me in this thread.
You seem to wade into all the posts, cutting and pasting, making the threads unnecessarily long, adding irrelevant and unpleasant comments, without even reading what has been written correctly!
If you take the time to read the post correctly you may realise that I was certainly not calling anybody a liar, and the comment you highlighted did not even concern MSE Kalah.
I am the one receiving these unsolicited and harassing calls, I think I am best place to decide what is coincidence and not.
I have explained why, with some details, I believe this not to be coincidence.
Your free to form your own opinion, and it’s clear what that is, now please stop adding unpleasant and irrelevant comments to this thread.
I have read the FAQs that you pointed out.
You do seem to assume that I would not have tried the obvious before posting here.
I have reported to TPS, I have read FAQ's, I have tried other methods of contact.
Unlike you Wywth I don’t see the point in filling threads with obvious and irrelevant information.
I suggest you try yourself sending an email to energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com
If you had then you might realise all they send back are automated replies!
You (Wywth) may feel this matter has been attended to and closed by Money Saving Expert.
Thankfully you do not represent them, I would hope that they take the matter of my personal and private information, which I trusted to them, much more seriously than you appear to.0 -

If they had sold your details, which I suspect is a criminal offence, then removing your details from a database held by MSE will not solve your perceived problem; as the 'possible criminal company' will probably have sold them on to other companies.
Quote = MSE Kalah:
I just wanted to reiterate that we absolutely do not pass on details for marketing purposes.
If you are convinced that MSE Kalah is lying - and despite your denial, that is exactly your accusation - why not complain to the Information Commissioner http://www.ico.org.uk/
You doubtless will post an apology if your accusation is unfounded!!0
