have you checked out the dog beds on ebay. Alternatively Pets at Home have quite a good selection.

I'm amazed at the prices of those huuuuuuge pet cushions. In pet shops etc you can pay anything from £20 upwards but I go to a sunday market near Gainsborough where loads of traders do them for under a tenner. Not sure where you live but you should check out your local markets.

I never know what to gove my dog to sleep on, as anything ends up covered in dog fur and a bit smelly! (she likes to chomp bones in bed - life of luxury!)...
Currently I tend to give her old bedding etc, which I can chuck in the washer..
I was thinking of making a bit cushion out of waterprrof fabric (maybe taken from an anorak or something?) which should be wipeable, shouldnt absorb as much and perhaps dog hairs wouldnt stick to it as much?
any ideas? Most of the big dog cushions I see dont look very easy to keep clean.

a old sleeping bag would be a option, our last dog had this as his bed and he loved it

There is a lovely dog bed in costco, which has a removable cover and i have washed that and the cushion part as well, i think it was about £15. Good size too.
