Iphone 5 or Samsung S4

I was lucky enough to get one of the £240 samsung S4's from the O2 deal and it arrived yesterday. It is a lovely phone and Sooo fast when browsing.

I have been using a Samsung Windows 7 phone for the past 2 yrs which I have found boring with hardly any apps so was keen to move to either Android or Apple.

I have been offered a straight swap for Iphone 5 for my Samsung S4 and don't know what to do:rotfl:

I am aware the Iphone won't support 4g but the Samsung will but I won't pay extortionate prices for that anyway, I currently use the £15 Ovivo sim but will probably be changing to a cheap sim only deal as the vodafone signal is rubbish in my home:(

My household (kids and OH) both use ipads and ipod touches but I always said Apple was too restrictive (not opening certain files etc) so stayed with my trusty laptop:D My sister and family have also moved to iphones.

Can anybody see the pro's and con's of keeping the S4 against an Iphone 5. I understand I won't be able to facetime but other than that I should be ok.

I hate making decisions:rotfl:

Many thanks for your help

Technologically, the S4 is a much higher spec, better performing, faster phone.

The only benefits i can think of the iPhone 5 is it holds value longer, is easier to use and has better apps. For everything else i'd keep the S4

    Thanks for replying.

I am not too bothered about resale as hopefully I will keep it a few years. I find it pretty simple to use so happy with that.

Is there a lot less apps on Android than on Apple? I know every time I have gone to look at an app it has always been Apple or Android (hence the reason The Windows Phone felt useless) so presumed they were on par. Also are the prices equal on both platforms?

    Thanks once again

I have an iPhone 5 for work and an S3 personal use. I just can't get on the with the iPhone, it feels to dumbed down, great for your Nan. There are few things I miss on the iPhone, being able to change the keyboard, live widgets and USB OTG too name a few.

So would you say you prefer the Samsung? If you had to choose one which one would it be?:D

    Thank you xx

Google Play apps one million plus and with 70 million tablets activated and many more phone the store grows daily .

IPhone 5 is not worth a straight swap with SGS4

Apple restrictive yes and surely that answers the question for you .

I use a Iphone 5 and a Sammy S4 for work, and an HTC one for personal use (I need two networks due to the locations I go to with work)

I love them all. I find people tend to stand in one camp or the other, regarding Apple and Android, but this needn't happen, they're both great platforms.

I tend to think the IPhone 'just works'. It exists in a compatible ecosystem, albeit you have to buy other Apple goods, but they work well together, with the minimum of fuss.
I also think that when you use the apps, they seems to be fit for purpose, I've found some Android apps can be a bit glitchy, or freeze the phone.
The Iphone is much less powerful, but it powers through things pretty much as quickly as the Sammy.
The Samsung is fast, the screen is amazing, and the apps available are great. It's full of features, such as the TV remote, the near field stuff, and the battery life is pretty good too.

I don't think you'll be disappointed in either.

Which would I have if I could only have one though? The HTC one - it's been the most reliable and impressive phone I've ever had!

The only reason I mentioned that is because when I phoned O2 they said the S4 will be ok on 4g network where as Iphone does not support it. Maybe he was talking rubbish:rotfl:

i have iphone4 and samsung s3. android products wins hands down. i will NEVER touch another apple phone they are over priced and you cant access most of the features unless you jailbreak not to mention android phones or samsung in my case are significantly cheaper than apple which is the same as in the desktop computer market.
    My Signature is MY OWN!!
  • Thank you all for your advice.

I think I have made up my mind to stick with the Samsung S4.

One of the benefits I had not thought of is that I can add an SD card to increase the memory but with the Iphone I am stuck with 16gb.

I have had a play around with the phone and I must admit it is addictive:D

    Thanks once again xx
