This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Lots of rain overnight and quite a pleasant cooler night so had a bit more sleep than recently.

Julie - hope all works out well for your son. Love and hugs to you and your family.

Molly - how is your son? I forget to ask you but it doesn't mean I don't think about him. How are you feeling about your hospital appointment now?

Dashing as usual, no lunch for me today as am off to a meeting, cold omelette for DH. Something with pork mince for dinner, depends what else is in the fridge.

    Dashing as per normal .....

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Good morning all, a bit cooler at the moment but its due to warm up later.I don't mind the heat but do miss a good nights sleep when its that hot.
My DGD Holly is taking some of the boys to Leysdown this morning so I can catch up on some ironing .Bless her she is a good lass, and spent most of yesterday at the Uni library taking notes and reading so she said she wanted a break today.
Eldest DD is enjoying her break in Greece and said it was 37c yesterday ,far too hot for me but she said she bagged a parasol and read her Kindle whilst sipping some Rose ,sounds lovely to me.

I'm just about to have a cool shower and some breakfast and then its off to DDs to sort the boys out as my DD and son-in-law go off to work around 8.00.I shall prep the veg for tonight's dinner for them feed the boys and hang out the washing, and then just relax on the decking with my knitting until Holly arrives to cart the boys off for a few hours then its back to my house and some ironing.Beautiful pictures of the new royal baby and the parents look very happy with him.
    Have a good day everyone

Thought I had better show my face :o.
Only about at this time as woke up rather warm !!
Not sure where my time is going ATM, but the days are flying by. Having a but of a sort out in the "office". All the cupboards and drawers are full of "everything and nothing" but usually have to do something or some backup to make them smaller, or throw them, and it is very time consuming, so trying to fit in what I want to do with what I have to do.
Still cooking from scratch, even if it is a salad on many days. Trying to use up the freezer, and stretching the shopping days to an extra one or two between, which means we eat that we have. No meal planning here, especially ATM while I am Low Carbing, the weight is coming off, little by little, but at least not going on.
((Hugs)), Hi-5's, Spoons grab a handful if you need or want them. Not even managing to read every day, so unsure of what is happening in all quarters.
HH - Sorry you are off line, just hoping you, the minder and family are OK.

    Morning All!
Woke to the sound of rain...and realised that there's a small break in the guttering - probably knocked by the painter a few months back. Another little fixing job to go on the list!
really ought to tackle the ironing mountain today or there'll be nothing uncreased to wear shortly. if it's cooler that'd help a bit.
Wedding anniversary today - 43 years! heavens, where did the time go? probably going out to eat this evening. Spent all day yesterday waiting for call from oncologist - and it never came, so doubtless sitting by the phone today as well...Really hope I can see him before he goes off for his hols...Keep getting told how lucky I am as he's the real expert with this particular cancer - all very well if I can actually see him and the treatment gets started! Apparently I'm also going to need something called a PET scan now too...
So, nothing really interesting planned for today.
Hope you all have good and productive days!

Julie - hope all works out well for your son. Love and hugs to you and your family.

Molly - how is your son? I forget to ask you but it doesn't mean I don't think about him. How are you feeling about your hospital appointment now?

    Hello x
Thank you for thinking of my son and I. He is plodding on and we usually have a few appointments each week.

Im dreading going into hospital but know it is a fact of life so need to get a grip!

Julie - my thoughts with you for your son x

Hugs for a good day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

Thanks for your good wishes yesterday. I'm probably not going to talk too much about this but your thoughts are much appreciated.
Going to have a tidy round this morning and do a wash, although it looks like it may rain at some point.
Trying very hard with the fasting hopefully I will see some results soon.
Nice to see Bargain Bird posting last night:T
Seriously running out of interesting meals to cook need to have a rethink we are all a bit bored with what we are eating at the moment.
Have done some more investigation into the counselling course and not quite as expensive as I thought but not cheap. I'm going to try and save up as the course starts in January 2014 but there are so many other things to pay, we shall see.
Have a good day all x

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Dull, overcast and raining here this morning. Very wet underfoot so has been raining since sometime during the night. Feels a bit cooler though.

DH and DS1 up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushrooms with pasta in a creme fraiche sauce - one of the favourites in this house - clean plates all round. Tonight will be something quick and easy - possibly fish, chips and beans for th menfolk, fish jacket pot and veg for me.

Will be doing the normal chores today - having my nails done in a while so once I get back from that, I'm taking DS2 to meet his friend in town for a couple of hours and then I will go back and collect him later. I'm hoping to get the ironing done and sort through some of the stuff that we've brought back from the caravan - we hopefully will get it re-packed tomorrow/Sunday - so it leaves next weekend to be able to get ready for our hols - well that's the plan anyway!! Really looking foreward to our hols now - can't wait - really need the break.

It's my mum and dad's Golden Wedding this weekend, so we have a do to go to tomorrow night - hadn't got a clue what to wear but managed to pick up a nice pair of summer trousers yesterday and have a new top that I was saving for hols so they will go together nicely.

Have a good day - remember the suncream if you're out in the sun!

    Keep safe and well x
