Yes, usually because it was sold with the 'game of the week' for say, £20. The game always went through at the normal price - £30-40. Used to happen everyweek or they would feature the 'wrong' game, same scenario. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Don't forget the walkmans, dvd's, cd's, telephones, irons, toys, clothes (wouldn't pay 4p for sale clothes as they went through at the original price on a lot of occasions), books, kettles, toasters, food processors, the occasional tv, pushchair and cot. Not forgetting the meat, Christmas time turkeys/hams/puddings, H&B, multibuys were notorious for not deducting the discount, wine, spirits, champers, fruit, dairy other groceries. I'm sure that someone will come along and remember other stuff.

It was rather a good time.;)

Did you get the gammon joints?

They went on special offer and were deducting too much discount, then they tried to correct it and it took money off your shopping. The whole family had them coming out of their ears for a good while.

Loved the game of the week board, and the top 10 board when it had prices on it.

    Even hubby got involved then.

And the H&B coupons, points, money off and free products.:D:D That equalled free holidays (;)) and cars for some people. R&R, well a lot of things came to people who read the sel, the packaging, the prices on the containing boxes, the little tv advertising in store, the banners, the signs in store, the standalone displays, the signs/banners outside the store, the leaflets in store, flyers in local newspapers, national newspapers and tv adverts. Can anyone think of what I've missed?:rotfl::rotfl:

My favourite R+R was the first time they ever did ''20% off all French wine''. This was in 1998 or 1999, certainly before the millennium. The discount did not come off the champagne - so, I had to explain that ''champagne'' was a French sparkling wine produced in a particular part of France!!!!

I had a dozen Krug and a car full of other bottles!

I remember my mum collecting the green shield stamps and I was allowed to have my dads embassy tokens from his fags, I usually got whsmith vouchers with them :D
Didn't the company that did green sheld stamps evolve into Argos eventually? Then got taken over by Great Universal Stores?

Anyhoo, good morning all. Need to take the dog for a walk but it's tipping it down now

Was on first name terms! I was asked to do an 'assisted shop' many times but I was always too busy. ;) One of the funniest moments was when the PID manager asked me where his department were going wrong. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I had a couple of crackers, was told once I had picked up 2 joints from the wrong place and the 2 I had were the only ones like that. Upon returning to the chiller with CS we found 2 staff furiously emptying the chiller of many joints. one them was the dept manager who just looked and said 'Give her the refund :p'

Got to know which stores were ok about rnr and dtd, sometimes depended on individual cs, and which stores would mean a difficult time.
