8p per minute for UK calls on PAYG? Hmmm, not great, though 50p a day for data isn't too bad.

Checking roaming rates, I see they would charge £1.25 per minute to call the UK or a Swiss number from Switzerland. Other operators can do this for pennies (3p with Togglemobile).

    :rotfl:

That's another one I don't need to bother with.

    Bundles:

Uncompetitive prices + rubbish network = one to be avoided.
  • If they use Vodafone it will be hard to get through much data as their 3G network is utter rubbish. You have to stand virtually underneath the mast to get one at that, move further away and it drops to 2g. I miss Three :(

50p for 25MB (charged in full even if you don't use all 25MB) is quite a poor deal. Three charges 1p/MB so you pay only for what you use and at half the price of Sainsbury's. Giffgaff charges 20p for 20MB.

Dont forget ovivo if your a light subscriber, although they do run on the vodaphone network so not good if you know you have poor signal with them. Ovivo costs £15 for the sim but then there is nothing more to pay if you dont want too and stick within the limits of the freedom plan.

150 mins, 250 texts and 500mb of data

The PAYG Basic prices look decent to me: 8p a minute for calls and they charge by the second. 4p per text message. In contrast Giff charge 10p per minute for calls with charging by the minute and 6p per text.

In total contrast Virgin charge 40p per minute on their PAYG Starter tariff.

But Giffgaff and Virgin are just silly prices, so not relevant comparison

White Mobile gives you calls for 3p/6p for minute to landline/mobiles, although Texts are 5p each.

Ovivo give you 150 minutes, 250 texts and 500mb free each month and if you need a bit more calls are 8p and texts 5p, but the free allowance is worth a lot.

Sainsbury's offering does seem slightly underwhelming, though they'll probably get some sign-up if they have the SIMs well positioned in-store. The only unique selling point on their offer is really the Nectar points.
