Feeling sorry for myself :(

This is a minor issue compared to some on here but I'm feeling sorry for myself today.

I took a tumble down a few metal steps at work at lunchtime and landed face & hand first on the concrete at the bottom. The poor bloke stood just by having a ciggie must have wondered what was going on when he saw me lying in a heap! He helped me up, sat me on the steps and then someone else happened to exit the building, I asked him for some paper towels for the blood, he came rushing back with our first aid kit and the towels.

Anyway, I've got a split top lip, very sore teeth, a big chunk gouged out of my right palm, scrapes on & under my nose and around my eye, scrapes on my ankle and knee and a very painful second toe :( I was very shaken up so I got my DD to pick me up from work and we stopped off at the docs & I was able to see the nurse.

She dressed my hand, I have to keep it out of water for 2 days, elevate my foot to encourage any bruising to come out on my toe and keep an ice pack on my poor mouth.

So, I'm taking a couple of days off work to recover and just feeling very sorry for myself and a bit shaken up too.

I'm very lucky though, it could have been worse, I could have broken something and I dropped my phone & specs, which luckily survived in one piece!

Take heart in knowing it could have been much worse as only your pride damaged.

Big ((((hugs))). Now go and spoil yourself!

  • Ooo ouch, poor you! It's a nasty shock to suddenly find yourself falling, not being able to do anything about it and knowing something's going to hurt afterwards!

At Christmas I'd just stepped outside the backdoor onto the decking and it was slippery wet and I was barefoot (of course!), so down I went, nearly doing the splits and tore my hamstring, felt well sorry for myself hobbling round. I'm not built for doing the splits for a start!!

Can you have a glass or two of something (for the shock and help numb things) and an early night?

    Hope you're recovered soon!

Feet up with a takeaway and a glass (or 3) of wine tonight. Some chocolate and trash tv for afters. All will be right with the world again :)
  • I can sympathise with you totally! I am myself aching almost everywhere today after I managed to end up under a pile of 6 double pane aluminium window frames :o (weighing about 60kg each so I’m told)

I'm an accountant but was helping out work as they needed an additional driver for one of their vans to make a large delivery. While helping to unload the frames they shifted and I ended up on the floor of the truck! Was just over 24 hours ago and I am feeling the pain more and more by the minute now, I also have some very nice bruises appearing.

On the plus side I work in an all male environment and they are all very impressed that I didn't let the frames get damaged in any way. I have now been initiated into the world of “delivering” and get to keep my high vis vest on the back of my chair in the office :T (they say I'm now one of the lads!!!)

It happens to the best of us!

    Thank you!

DH has gone to get my car from work (I felt too shaken to drive myself home) then he's going to make me an omelette as I need something soft as my teeth hurt after bashing the on the ground.

I have wine in the fridge so I suspect that will be opened later :D

I do think it could have been much worse, I'm lucky I didn't break anything....

Wow, that must have really shaken you up.

I think you are justified in feeling a bit sorry for yourself.

Thankfully you are in one piece, so try to relax and put it behind you now

:( Chocolate and comedy tv programmes are made for moments like this! You must feel so shook up, i'm really clumsy and always hurting myself and it scares the life out of me.
Hope you feel better soon :)

Ouch! Sounds like a nasty shock. Indulge yourself a bit and hopefully you'll feel better soon. I'm feeling sorry for myself tonight too. Nights of little sleep and new job are not a good combination :-(

    Gx
