OP, really chuffed to bits for you that your Mac is up and running again. You already know that you have to back up first, and then deal with everything else later. Really hope that it all goes well for you, and your current Mac lasts, but if not, at least you have a few pointers as to what to do.
Pity that no matter what is said about no Mac/Windows debate, there is always one with a totally informative and unbiased statement...not!

You really want some more RAM in that, 1GB is pretty pitiful.
Head over to crucial.com and use the memory checker to see what increase you can get-but certainly double it.No free lunch, and no free laptop
