My gastroenterologist (who I am seeing for other stuff relating to endocrine and neurological side effects we think) was also asking all sorts of questions about my cycle and bowels. I have always noted a difference, but then all the female friends I have discussed it with have said they have too. I always presumed the uterus cramping away in there was giving us a good old bowel massage :o

Absolutely. I agree that there tends to be a difference in bowel habits at different times of the month. What I meant to say (but should have explained better) was bowel problems can be indicative of endo, rather than just the usual bowel changes that a lot of women will experience throughout a normal cycle.

Quite a few of the girls I went to school with would only ever use pads which I always found really weird but back then I didn't realise having to use Super Plus tampons and maxi pads, changing every 3-4 hours, wasn't the norm.

So are you saying that your periods were so heavy that you thought it was normal to use super plus tampons AND pads at the same time?

It was urgent too me. But the fact that I can't leave the house alone means I have to rely on others - and the others were busy.

    .

Do think of trying depo or similar - I was on it for 4 years, and my periods pretty much stopped, and even when I did have one, it was very light.

To be honest, it doesn't sound as if you are remotely in the right place to deal with pregnancy and a small baby at the moment?

My periods have been so heavy that Ive used super plus tampons plus a sanitary towel as well.

Thankfully over the years its got better, but I still have to use super, but preferably super plus tampons.

I went on the pill at 18 because my periods were so heavy, I didnt stay on it long term, but obviously some people will have heavier bleeds than others.

Does anyone suffer with lower back pain , instead of stomach cramp . I have started today and as usual it my back that is in agony not my stomach.

I don't during my period, but when I was in labour, the pain was much more in my lower back than in my stomach, oddly.

OP, I second going back to the doctor and getting referred to gynacology. In the meantime, exercise in the 2-3 days before my period really helps me, and hot water bottles are definitely worth trying.

I have to do this for a part of my period. Its another reason (quite apart from pain) practicalities of life can be difficult for women with 'not normal' periods. At the heaviest part of my flow a tampon would not last, say, two hours, let alone four. :(.

Have you had a doctor or nurse examine you internally at any time? That doesn't sound right unless you're very tiny in build, it may be that your uterus sits in one of the more unusual positions up there and is causing plumbing problems by leaning down on other organs. Most of these tip-tilted positions don't cause conception or pregnancy problems so don't fear that, I've got a tilted uterus myself and apart from them having to rummage around for my cervix when I get a smear it's never caused me any problems. But also I never got much by way of period pains either. It just flags up a query for me though if you're not only getting such extreme period pains plus damage during normal intercourse and I was wondering if you've had a full physical check up down there.

    I agree.

My friend who found out she had two uteruses also had told me in the past she had pain during sex & even found it too painful to use tampons which I felt so bad for as for me the thought of using pads is really depressing, as with tampons it's like there is no period. Anyway part of her two uteruses has meant she also has a septate in her vagina so it's not two seperate ones but it is slightly divided off to speak. She said she now knows why she had so many problems with stuff like this!

I had an examination after my MC to check the cervix was closed (in December) and they didn't notice anything strange then, not sure if they would have been checking though.

Yes. That's what I'd always had to do so I just assumed others had to as well.

My friend has had a few smear tests and they never realised she had this or two cervixes! Unbelievable. So I would always ask to get things checked out by a scan.
