I really don't like watching football, but after MSE's great job of thrice bringing it to my attention, I really must check out their guide to the cheapest TV Sports packages/Virgin/Sky/TalkTalk deals!!!

Or why don't they charge a small fee per game as someone above has mentioned?

Trouble is that their small fee is £9.99. Four weekends a month is £40 so if you watch one game a week you might as well get the sports package.

Or you could go to the pub and for the same price get three pints for every game.

Must be else it would go against Forum rule.

    Illegal/grey area topics
Please don't discuss illegal issues or those that are grey areas in law on this forum.

I assumed it was illegal, but it appears that the people who are acting illegally are the people who infringe the copyright. The people who watch the infringement are not, it seems, at the moment, doing anything illegal.

Like copying Nike jackets is illegal, but buying them isn't. Whether you want to do that is up to your ethics (or in this case, quality of the stitching.)

They will never close down all the streams. Twitter has plenty of links for games and if ones uses a VPN you can log onto free streams of EU channels that stream EPL games.

If you want to watch football matches for free live on the internet, be warned there are big question marks about the legality of doing this
    No there aren't.

Is it legal to watch football online for free?
    Yes it is.

That caveat is it may be unlawful, however for a sucessful civil claim, damages would need to be proved (difficult) and broadcasters would need to target individuals (too expensive). Sharing said broadcast (e.g. via peer 2 peer or showing it to punters in a pub) may be illegal though.

Never streamed at home (got Sky World 3D/HD) although watched a few streamed matches at pubs. Quality wasnt the best.

Don't know if there are HD streaming
options online but if so I would contemplate it...

"The Premier League says the only way to legally watch a live match online is when you watch via an official rights holder, such as Sky or BT"

except the problem is in the UK you can legally only watch a few games a weekend on TV. abroad and hence via the streaming sites you can watch every game. Until they get rid of the 3pm blackout rule this won't change

And kill the attendances at the games? Ain't gonna happen. As this was the reason for the 3pm blackout in the first place.

I will forever stream my football for free. And have taught all my friends on doing the same. Not ashamed whatsoever.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"
