It is certainly possible for him to go BR but he does not need to pay anyone to do it and this money will be making money for old rope as all he will do is copy the IVA paperwork onto the BR paperwork. Also he may not get the allowances right on the SoA leaving your OH to pay into an IPA for three years.
Have a read of the Look Here First sticky and get him to ring National Debtline ( number in that sticky) for FREE IMPARTIAL ADVICE.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
I found this thread quite by accident while trying to get some more info via Google on this chap.
I went into a DMP some 4 years ago and after about two years was advised by the DMP company to opt for an IVA (both these options cost me a large chunk of my payments and lined their pockets as much as the creditors!).
I had been in the IVA for about 8 months when, among the many letters I started receiving from companies like this, I decided to contact him and look at my options as my current employment was going to terminate prior to the IVA ending.
I was advised to stop paying the IVA and allow it to termonate and then seek bankruptcy or push for a full and final settlement to end the debt sooner and for less than I owed. This advice cost me a grand but it all seemed kosher.
For that money I've had to do all the chasing to get updates and just recently I've been unable to get direct communication to find out exactly what's going on as it's nearly a year since I stopped paying the IVA and some months since the termination certificate was issued.
I decided to ring the National Debtline today and was told that it appears I was given all the wrong advice and had basically wasted my time and money so it now appears I'm back to square one all over again.
I was going to go for bankruptcy but was told that even though the mortgage is in the wife's name and I have lived here for less time than she has I would still be regarded as a beneficiary on any equity in the house as I contribute at least 50% of the total outgoings including the mortgage and therefore the house could be at risk!
I'm pretty peed off with the whole thing now. The debts which I had before I met my current wife some 8 years ago are still there and don't seem to have gone down to any extent despite me paying a fair amount to these people and now it appears I've got to consider going back into a DMP and continue to carry this millstone for a good number of years to come still!0 -
Hi and welcome.
If you are going down the DMP route with NDL then at least you won't be paying for the privalage and all monies will go towards your debts.
If you pop over to the Debtfree Wanabe board they will be able to help and support you in your endevour.

I need some advice here please.
I've tried contacting this guy via text and mobile phone without success so decided to send an email to the address on one of his letters. It's been returned as undeliverable.
I did a Google search and found another forum where someone stated (in November 2012) that the name has changed to the IVA Personal Insolvency Centre. If this is the same guy then it's news to me! I still can't seem to find any contact details other than the mobile number and email address I already have.
It seems I've paid money based on half truths and false promises and am probably worse off now than I was when his letter dropped through my letterbox 17 months ago!
I was hoping to get hold of him before contacting the Financial Ombudsmen but I may as well just write to them anyway.
I am angry and annoyed and feel duped. I thought I had the measure of people but I guess the best of us can be hoodwinked.
If anyone can offer some advice as to what I should do next (aside from throwing myself under the next train) I'd be glad to hear it.0 -
I just did a search of the consumer credit licence database and I cant find him there or on the Insolvency practitioner register.
Are you sure you are in an IVA?0 -
I was, but stopped paying last Feb on his advice as I was going to go bankrupt or offer full and final settlement as my employment is set to terminate in 2015. The IVA was terminated last October.
The letters from him state a CCL No 5533020 -

Thanks for that information.
The postal address used on the letters does not correspond to any of those listed: 3 Concordia St, Leeds, LS1 4ES
The thing is what do I do now?
Contact him via snail mail or just write to the FSO and make a complaint?
Should I just go ahead and make F&F offers to my creditors in the meantime too?0 -
You should consider making a compliant to the OFT - http://www.oft.gov.uk/about-the-oft/legal-powers/legal/competition-act-1998/complaints#.UuJ2_mxFCUk
How much did you pay him?0 -
Two payments of £500 each :-(0
