The kid will have a decent life, but hes going to have no choice in the religion he follows, he'll be head of the army, one day king, not much normality about his life.

Btw, Ive never been a royalist and Ive worked full time for the majority of my adult life, as has my immediate family who also work full time and aren't royalists.

We all have the right to our views. I'm glad the birth went well and that mum and baby are ok, but that is it.

As for the money taxpayers pay towards the royals, it might only be 70p per person or so but that adds up to a pretty penny when all is said and done.

I actually cant understand why in this day and age that we are supposed to bow and scrape to a queen and her family who live a life of luxury just because they are born into a certain family.

There are other royal families throughout the world who live much more low key lives.

Tourist attraction or not, no one needs to live in a Palace with hundreds of rooms and servants.

Regardless of what they give back to the UK, my view is they take far too much from it. No need for people to be obscenely wealthy while other people starve in the UK and people do.

And obviously the feel good factor will take away from the mess that this country is in and the fact that more people are now living below the poverty line.

Kate stayed in a £6000 per night suite? Paid for by the taxpayer? Some of these people on benefits who are being criticised live on that in a year.

    Right with you both here^^^.

I absolutely love the Royals and I always have, and everyone in my family and circle of friends feels the same. I despair of the negativity and vitriol towards them, and quite honestly feel sorry for people with such hatred towards them. A person who has such contempt for someone who has done literally NOTHING to deserve it, is a sad soul indeed.

I would find it hard to be friends with someone who was horrible about the Royals. It would be a deal-breaker for me with any potential friend.

Seriously cannot be doing with anti-royalists. According to many reports this week though, anti royalists are a dying breed, and the Royals are more popular than they have ever been. Sucks for the anti-royalists. :D

The reports this week are about selling papers! It's in their interest to tell you that the royals are popular as it...sells more papers. What sucks for the anti royalists is the royals themselves, not the idiots who lap it all up.

Anti royalists aren't a dying breed, they are just quietly sticking knives in their hands to quell the pain of all the royal nonsense this week.

He can convert to catholicism, Islam, Buddism or whatever he fancies if he wants to - there's nothing to prevent him, and he can abdicate if he wants to, he won't be the first king to throw in the towel.

I would think that will be highly unlikely. But even so, hes still going to have a very not ordinary life, for all the riches, I wouldnt swap that for anything.

Cant even go to Sainsburys without police protection officers at your side.

I do think Kate does love William, because she gave up a hell of a lot for him, as she had a fairly normal life before she started dating him and I suppose even while they were dating.

And thats not to say no Royal should ever marry, but William said it himself when they got engaged, they spoke about how her life would change, its a lot to take on.

You cant be doing with anti royalists? Seriously?

You know, Im not religious but I have friends of many different religions.

Because I have tolerance. I accept people for who they are and I would hope people accept me for who I am

I dont need to agree with peoples politics or whether they like the royal family to be friends with them

And you say the royals dont deserve vitriol towards them, Ive never shown vitriol towards them, Im just not a royalist.

But its odd, you wont have someone in your life who isnt a royalist yet you seem to be judging people who arent royalists without knowing anything about them or ever having met them

I bet there are people who are royalists who are horrible people, the same way there are people who dont like the royal family who are horrible

But by the same token you'll get people who arent royalists who are decent human beings and people who are royalists who are nice

Id never exclude anyone from my friendship circle based on whether they liked the royal family

Some of my best friends are staunch royalists and have close links with certain football teams who are very pro the royal family

And I support another team where it has nothing to do with it. But thats friendship, real friendship, where you can roll your eyes at one another and say whatever and get on with a night out or a conversation.

Seriously, way to judge people without even knowing them.

Oh and I bet more people would be like Kate and William if they had the money and the opportunities theyve had

But hey, Im already scratched as someone who people dont want to get to know just because Im not a royalist

Just as well the people who actually do know me, think theres more to me than that.

She's the daughter of millionaires, went to public school - all very normal - started dating him in 2002 and hung on like grim death until she got him to the altar.
She wasn't known as one of the Wisteria Sisters for nothing.

Oh no they've called him George, I'm disappointed as there are more modern royal names, James or Alexander for example and they are young modern royals. Surely Kate didn't choose that :(

    I mean
    George osborne yuk
    or
    George DubbleU
    or
    George pig peppas' brother
    or
    George Michael :p

Still led a more normal life than she did when she started dating him and now. And if you look a bit further into the Middletons background, a couple of generations back, they were very working class.

And tbh it doesnt really matter one way or the other whether she was known as waity katie or whatever, he obviously loved her and she him and by all accounts they were miserable apart

The thing is, I dont think people fall into pro royals and royal haters

My first thought when I wake up in the morning isnt, Im not a royalist

Its more like do I have clean socks to wear when I teach a class tonight, have I money to pay my gas bill

They dont figure, I generally have enough going on in my life than to be waving a placard up and down the main street saying Im not a royalist

I just think its incredibly sad that anyone would make a judgement on not wanting to know another human being because they dont care one way or another about the royal family

So much sadness and poverty and war going on all over the globe and whether people like or dislike the royal family is a dealbreaker

I dont hate people, Ive been through enough in my time on this planet, not to hate people I dont know

And I hope that some people out there realise that just because you dont bow and scrape all over the royals, that it doesnt make you a hateful person.

Things dont need to be 100 per cent of something or 0 per cent at the other end, its possible to live your life without caring much either way at all.

    I really hate this forum!

Ska Lover... how have you come to the conclusion that I am on benefits if I am not a royalist! I am not on benefits. I do not have kids, I do not have any debts, my inside leg measurements is 31'' anything else you want to know? Because I do not want you to misconstrue anything else now do I????

And whomever assumed I did not understand irony.... I DO!

I really do not understand you, have you had a complete change of tack since your post - post 1?

Firstly you are not impressed that people are not jumping through hoops over a royal birth and saying they are all claiming benefits..and then completely out of the blue you come out with this?

I haven't assumed a thing about you, you aren't that important to me - i was merely responding to your own post regarding people being on benefits if they are not royalists. Do you even know which side of the debate you fall on, or are you just changing sides now?
The opposite of what you know...is also true
