Great 'ways To Cut Back' Hunt

  • Freeze your credit card - literally!! If you need to keep a card for "emergencies" (car needs a new exhaust before pay day hits etc) then put it in a tin can (not anything plastic - you can't defrost it quickly in a microwave if its in a tin! ;)), fill with water and pop it in the freezer. Then if you REALLY need it you can and while it is defrosting you also have time to think about other ways to pay for your purchase. Putting it in the freezer takes away the temptation to use it indiscriminately.

Sorry if already been mentioned as I haven't read all the pages but ladies at that time of the month use this:

    www.mooncup.co.uk

You start saving money on sanitary products after 6 months as it lasts 10 years and is great for the environment!:T

don't know if its been mentioned already - don't bother with newspapers or magazines, read what you need to online for free.
  • I really, really like the facial cleansing cloths that are so non-MSE and non-green. However I make it less expensive by cutting them into quarters and keeping them in a little plastic box. The first day I used a quarter it felt ridiculously small but after that I found them fine. A pack of 30 (£1.99ish) therefore lasts 120 days.
  • what a good idea juliapenguin  -- thanks, im off to cut my face wipes up!

Instead of spending out on a new carpet, just go down to the local carpet store and strap a couple of those 30cm square samples to your feet - much cheaper !

I do this with cotton wool pads as well. I use toilet roll instead of tissues to remove make up.

Another tip with the toilet roll, crush it slightly this more awkward shape means children cannot easily pull off yards of the paper in one go.
