I always cut Brillo pads in half, makes them go twice as far. I do the same with the Toilet duck padsJust because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0

Don't know if this has been mentioned before but change where you do your shopping. I used to do my shopping at Tesco and it cost be around £30 to £40 per week I've now started shopping at Lidl and my local market and it cost around £20 per week!!!0

My mother always said that if you get a ladder in one leg of a pair of tights its worth keeping them rather than throw them away. When you get a ladder in one leg of another pair, cut off the bad legs of each and wear them as a pair!
Don't know why she told me that - I'm a 19 stone man!
I guess it kind of works for socks too...0 -
Freeze your credit card - literally!! If you need to keep a card for "emergencies" (car needs a new exhaust before pay day hits etc) then put it in a tin can (not anything plastic - you can't defrost it quickly in a microwave if its in a tin!
), fill with water and pop it in the freezer. Then if you REALLY need it you can and while it is defrosting you also have time to think about other ways to pay for your purchase. Putting it in the freezer takes away the temptation to use it indiscriminately.
What an AWESOME idea!0 -
Get water meter fitted if theres less people living in the house than bedrooms.0

Hello Im a bit of a newbie at this and I dont know if this is the right place to post this (if its not could someone direct me)?
We are focusing as a family at the moment and are really trying to pay off our CCs and reduce our mortgage term BUT we have very good friends, our next door neighbours in fact who are constantly suggesting meals out, take-aways, days out with the children (usually including McD's & cinema tickets) we have 2 teenagers and they have 3 so it all adds up.
They are fortunate to have recently gained some inheritance and we feel a bit pressured into keeping up with them, especially by the children. So my problem is How do we handle it??? Any suggestions would be helpful as they are such good friends and we dont want to upset them.
The phrase 'we can't afford it' and the word 'no' are difficult to say if you are not accustomed to it, but get easier with time.
Your kids need to know the reality, and not think they can have it all. You will do them good by being straight with them. Teenagers are able to earn their own money too! Go to the cinema on wednesdays if you have an Orange phone it's 2 for 1 cinema tickets. I got a PAYG phone just for that! For a tenner!
Your family's financial future is more important than keeping up with the joneses.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!

You can often get free money off vouchers on the internet and in newspapers/back of car parking tickets, etc which will help stretch your money out and keep the kids happy. There is currently one around for BOGOF on BigMac's on the McDonalds site. Also my local cineworld run a half price day on Tuesdays.
Also you can earn free vouchers online eg luncheon vouchers with pinecone research, leisure vouchers with pigsback, etc. To find out more about these type of sites I always use www.ilovefreebiesuk.net which has been invaluable in helping me earn vouchers towards Christmas, shopping, etc.0 -

Sorry if already been mentioned as I haven't read all the pages but ladies at that time of the month use this:
www.mooncup.co.uk
You start saving money on sanitary products after 6 months as it lasts 10 years and is great for the environment!:T
initial thought... but kind of makes sense! doesn't tell you how often to change it??? Not sure I would want to do this at work!
I like one of the testimonials on the mooncup site... one lady says she like the blue ribbons and it should come in more colours with sparkles?!?!? :rotfl:

Sorry to go off topic but reading this reminds me of something I read.
The lady was going to have a smear test. She had a wash beforehand and then sprayed herself with a spray used to keep the nether regions fresh.
To her horror she realized instead of the femi fresh spray she had picked up a can of hair glitter spray by mistake. She washed off what she could but some glitter remained.
She could only hazard a guess at what the clinician thought when she examined her.0
