If you use public transport in London, but not enough to warrant getting a weekly/monthly/annual travelcard, get a prepay Oystercard - big savings on regular single fares, and a fare 'cap' when you have spent the equivalent of the cost of a daily travelcard: https://www.oystercard.com

Also, if you get an Oyster Card you can get discounts off of places:

And if you're not already using Orange's 2 for 1 Orange Wednesdays at the Cinema, you can use your Oyster Card! :D

I travel regularly in London (pretty much every day), don't have a regular work schedule so don't always make the same journey every day.
I used to buy a monthly travel card (about £80 per month, I think). With Oyster I now spend about £57 per month.

I would also recommend loads of walking. Public transport is so slow (especially nearer to the centre) it is often less hassle and quicker to walk, not to mention healthier. One of my journies (zone 2 - centre) takes 45mins/1hr by public transport and just over an hour to walk.

Free glass of wine??? - If you have a box of wine and you think it's finished, open the box, take out the bag, cut a corner off and "Voila" - at least one more glass of wine you didn't think you had! Maybe not a good thing if you already thought you had one too many anyway!

Fabric Softner - if you don't like the cheaper options, continue to buy your regular softner but when you get a third of the way down, just top it back up with water and give it a good shake. You wont notice any difference and get a third free!

Children's Activity Centres: My local activity centre offers a 12 month "come as many times as you like for as long as you like" offer for £75.00. I got my family to club together for a birthday present for my daughter and it's brilliant. No unwanted gifts for a girl with too many toys as it is...and somewhere to go all year that costs me nothing other than a cup of tea. My daughter loves it and so do I. If you're activity centre doesn't offer this option...pester them until they do!

Use toilet rolls instead of boxes of tissues when you have a cold. V much cheaper!
£2 saving: 2.5 cm in the bottom of a 500ml sprite bottle - not counting but might weigh from time to time...

When buying flowers, carnations last much longer than tulips or daffodils.

Learn to care for your shoes to make them last longer. I have a pair of black leather shoes that I've worn nearly every day for the past year and they don't look worn because of regular polish.

Use distilled water in your iron to prevent limescale buildup. Much cheaper than the fancy scented stuff they sell in the laundry aisle!

A halogen or quartz space heater is cheap to buy (about 8-10 pounds) and cheap to run when you just want to take the chill off the air, but don't need the central heating running.

A backpack and a shopping trolley make it possible to do grocery shopping on foot rather than driving or getting a taxi. And as an added bonus, you won't buy as much when you know you have to carry it! ;)
