Happy birthday Taplady hope you have a lovely day!************************************

Morning All,
We had a heavy shower shortly after 7am, but looking at the weather maps we seem to be on the edge of the weather front, so looks like we will miss the storms today anyway.
So the Royal media circus turns to picking King Ethelred's middle names!Felt very sorry for some members of the public, who have been camped out at the hospital for several days to get a glimpse of the baby, being moved on for security reasons! My guess is Alex, after me.
Last night we had lovely duck in Chinese pancakes with scallions (spring onions for you Southerners!) and sliced cucumber and a thick plum sauce. They were lovely.
Nice and pleasant in work today again.
Have a lovely day everyone :beer:0 -
Happy birthday taplady
I'm very pleased for the Cambridges, and it is exciting that a future King has been born, but there is a lot of coverage on TV about nothing in particular. I'll be interested to have a look when they bring him out of the hospital, and I'm curious to see what his name will be, but for the time being I'm not spending too much time on the news channels.
On the subject of names, I think Alexander. We've never had a king of Great Britain and Northern Ireland called Alexander, but there were Scottish King Alexander's. Although, by the time this little one ascends the throne, if Salmond and his friends have their way, the UK will have been split up by then.
Had a disturbed nights sleep. The thunder didn't wake me up, but at 2.10am, my husband woke me up to tell me it was thundering. I wasn't best pleased. I then drifted off to sleep, and woke again at 4.30 due to the sound of torrential rain. The sun has just come out , as I write this. It's very muggy and close, so I won't be doing much today. There's just a small amount of ironing, and I'll go round with the.duster, but that will be it.
We'll have salad for dinner, so it'll be quite simple.
Anyway, have a good day everyone.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Happy Birthday Taplady!
Morning All
Had washing out on the line but brought it in just in time, we now have a thunder storm and torrential rain! If I wasn't going away I would be watching the grass grow by the second. It hasn't really been growing during the hot spell but it will now! Glad I went over it yesterday.
Went to friends for dinner last night which was lovely, great food and a good catch up, DD opened all her cards and pressies for her 21st (birthday not till 29th but we will be away). She's a very lucky girl.
Just pottering today trying to keep everything clean and tidy, it will be an odd meal tonight involving sausages and anything else lurking in the fridge!
Take care. XX0 -
Happy Birthday Tappers, I hope that you have a great day
Heavy rain in the early hours with lots of lightning , but no thunder and it has just started to rain again, the gardens really need a good soak though, so I am not too bothered.
It will hopefully get a little cooler now, even though I was loving the really hot weather. I needed to wash my sofa cover again today, because DS got chocolate on it  Oh well it will have to wait for another dry day.
Nothing much planned for today apart from working on a new blog, because I am still not allowed to get my dressings wetso I won't risk going out. Hopefully it will be drier tomorrow because I have to pay some bills and pick up a prescription.

Morning everybody
:bdaycake: Have a lovely birthday Taplady
I was woken at 7 with loud claps of thunder and it started raining, but no thunder since. Its stopped raining now but I've just been in the garden and it feels lovely and fresh.Saw a squirrel from the bedroom window sat on one of the fence posts soaking up the rain ,it just sat there for ages then did a big shake
I'm having a day off from household choresas I've had a chesty cough thingy and feel a bit wiped out,so I'm doing what I want today.DS1 is still away so the house is quiet, well until teatime and DGD arrives
.Had a text from DS1 last night they had a great time at the festival in Spain, but were making their way back into France for flight back tomorrow.
Did a bit of a shop yesterday morning and bagged a few meat reductions,so had chicken thighs (pulled the meat from the bone to serve as DH cant be bothered faffing around he says)new potatoes, and roasted veg for tea,and the last of the Victoria sponge.Tonight will make lamb kebabs with ys steaks.
I think the media hype over the new baby is ridiculous too.I am very pleased for the young couple,a new baby is lovely for any family no matter how poshbut the pressure put on that girl must be enormous with all this hysteria.
Right off to read a new book I downloaded to my Nook ereader, nice light summer reading.I have to say since I got it a couple of months ago,I've read more books than I have all year
Have a good day everybody x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Many Happy Returns to Tappers!
Glad the Royal babe safely here - and amazed at how skilled the TV reports are at waffling about nothing at all!!
Have actually got my bread maker going today. hadn't realised how long it had been sitting unloved on the shelf...but one bag of flour had a use by date of January so clearly some time before that. Having been treated to the sight of "moving" flour grains in the past I did consign it unopened to the bin.....
We each took a bootload of stuff up to the recycling centre yesterday - our council is brilliant with loads of different containers - you just need to have the stuff well-sorted before hand or you find yourself running backwards and forwards a lot!. Wish I could say the garage now looks better....it's going to take a lot more trips I think! Still, we know we've made a start!
Didn't sleep much last night with all the flashes and rumbling...and it's only very slightly less muggy than yesterday..
Anyway, hope you all have a good day whatever you're planning to do.Resolution:

thanks for the birthday wishes!
I still lurk here now and again, bit of a fraud really as nothing very interesting to report.:D
Having a nice rest recovering from my op, hoping to go away in Tarquin for a couple of days although Taplord has a bad back so we may have to cancel:( fingers crossed anyway that we go.
Still humid here, bit of thunder and lightning and a little bit of rain but nothing much.
have a great day all x x xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Hi all, from a slightly soggy Concrete Cow Country - it was stair-rodding it at 04:00 this morning!:D
Hoppy Birdday Tappers.:beer:Time_to_face_the_music wrote: »Is anyone else thoroughly sick of royal babies already?
Islandmaid you said yesterday you were so hungry you could eat a horse, having missed lunch, and I did laugh - the recent problems in the supermarket meat trade have certainly made that phrase take on a new significance!:D
Not much of interest to report here (is there ever? I wouldn't be at all surprised if most of you skip my posts) so I shall push off and let someone more interesting have their say.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
