I would imagine it will be along the lines of litter picking and other public activities that councils are struggling/could save money on.
I wonder when we are going to fit in 30 hour job searching to this 'working' week and how this will benefit people in their search for a job. Who is going to take littler clearing as serious.

We have plenty of litter people where I live and one of those large hoover things. What if these people lose their jobs cause of free 'labour'

  • on the wright stuff the other day they were talking about a leaked story from the tory conference where they will announce work for your dole for longterm unemployed and under 25's.

David Cameron was just on about this on the evening news. The main story was about tax incentives for married couples and he just slipped in about the unemployed being made to work for their benefits as part of welfare reform.

Why should married people get what singles don't. Everyone forgets single people.

As far as work for your benefits maybe instead of letting people be made redundant the Gov should pay the JSA to the company to keep you on even if its 2 days a week till you get something else instead of doing something for free that's not even related to what you did at work,

He was saying that marriage was an important instituition for society as a whole or words along those lines. He said it should be encouraged etc.
Probably so they can encourage people to have kids so companies can have the next generation of cheap labour.

I dont know 1 marriage that has worked every single person I have known in a marriage is now divorced.

A day working a week, other 4 job seeking. If you don't take it seriously you get sanctioned.

The council will be saving as 'cleaning' won't need to be done by council workers, so they either let them go or relocate them to another area within the council.

Why do you object to working at NMW for your benefit?

But still what about single people? Nothing is EVER done for them at all, EVER

You cant encourage a single person to get married when they have no one to marry. Discrimination maybe? Surely it's choice.

Why? Its not a real job nor will cleaning the streets get anyone a real job.

There is at least 2000 people at my WP provider when I left and probably a lot more now so cant see 2000 + 'jobs' being available at the council and there is another provider in the area too with 3 further offices with probably the same amount of people.

Work should be paid for and I am willing to pay back every penny of my JSA when I get a job.

It was restore a sense of fairness many people think is lacking.

It will keep people in touch with what working is.

These aren't jobs that exist, but there are 1000s of man hours worth of work that needs to be done all over the country but which aren't because there is no money for it. We have 1000s of hours of labour sitting doing nothing. Kill two birds with one stone.

I think its not fair that people with kids get child benefit why not take that away. Or people who are on JSA who continue to have kids and get extra ££ for them that's not fair.

People who have never worked but still managed to have a few kids and get a flat!

Not fair also that not everyone can get housing benefit even if you pay 'rent' to a family member as they are expected to let you stay in their home for free but you would get it if you rented privately.

There are a lot of things I think that's not fair.

I know what it like to work, I have done since the age of 14 (1983) and this is the first time ever I have been out of work. I am not used to being here looking for work day in day out. It bothers me I have no life. A good CV and references with plenty of experience go no where these days!

Jobs that aren't being done cant be that important if we are all surviving without them being done.

In terms of fairness what about comparing the ruling class with everyone elce instead of people on benefits with those who are working. Do you understand what divide and rule is? Do you understand what propoganda is and what role it plays ?.
