I can't recall anyone calling them awesome, who assumed that?0 -

I have a question about the work programme and I guess this is the best thread since people who have completed the work programme will have been on it for 2 years and have plenty of experience of it.
Can my Work Programme advisor force me to apply for a job?
I was doing a "structured job search" today and the advisor saw me looking at a job listed by Search Jobs on Universal Jobmatch. I went to apply by clicking through to their website and then saw it was one of the worse websites I'd ever seen and was asking me to copy and paste my CV into a text box rather than upload it as an attachment. Their website also has pretty much nothing on it on the homepage other than a google search and one "featured job". With this in mind I came to the conclusion that it's not a legitimate site.
Here is an example of one of their application pages, you'll be able to see why I'm suspicious of it. http://www.searchjobvacancies.co.uk/waiting-staff-apply.html
When I handed in my job search log to my advisor he asked why the job from Search Jobs wasn't listed and I told him I hadn't applied due to my concerns I mentioned above. He then said I had to apply for it as I was failing to apply for a reasonable job opportunity. I stated again that I thought it was at best a data gathering exercise and possibly even a scam.
I didn't get to ask him anything else as he started raising his voice to me so I told him that although I'm unemployed I don't deserve to be spoken to in an aggressive way and that the conversation would end there (it was the end of the session anyway).
Can he force me to apply for it? He strikes me as the kind of guy who is petty enough to make me apply for it if he can.0 -
http://www.searchjobvacancies.co.uk/waiting-staff-apply.html is a scam site as far as I know and I have reported this to the UJM
Ask the WP for the address of this 'agency'?We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

finally yes you have reacted angrily when someone has had a dig at you but you have also reacted badly to people who have made perfectly reasonable posts but just happen to disagree with you.
Yes you do you will not let go of the fact that I praised ap007 on the fact she grasps the correct concept of actively seeking. why is that so important to you???
There are lots of people who disagree with me on here so whether they do or don't is not my issue.
Where I react badly would be when people like yourself tempt to take digs because you don't like the information you are given, so in turn start taking digs and getting personal because of the job I do.
Anyway as I said yesterday you're boring me now so it's best you reffrain from comments towards me as I'm really not interesting in pursuing this little tut for tat argument you wish to have.0 -

WP advisor is on a power trip and doesn't like being challenged.0 -
JC advisors don't like being challenged and are used to getting their own way, they've got that power over people to cause them trouble & stop their benefit.
Thats just a generalisation there are thousands of advisors across the country, most just try to do the best job they can given what we have to deal with on a daily basis.0 -
I've told a couple of advisors at JC about searchjobvacancies. They re-advertise the same jobs every few days and have been doing for a while. I've described the job application method and mentioned you get no confirmation of application whatsoever.(When they first came on the scene it didn't even say what job you were applying for) I asked if should keep applying for the same jobs time and time again, and I was told YES! (!!!!!!!)
It's ridiculous.
Now, I don't mind applying for the same non existent jobs time and time again because it goes down as a job seeking activity and ticks another box, but how bloody pointless!0
