I think it's down to how the adviosr writes it.

I don't think they have thought too much about it, how it's worded how it could be interpreted and don't care as long as you're doing the core number of hours over most days of week, however you want to do the hours.

    Mine certainly didn't care.

The allowance is to live on while looking for work.

Doesn't mean you have to look for work 7 days a week 24 hours a day.
indeed, if it did then everyones agreement would say they must search 7 days a week.

Didnt say it did but suggesting that you should only look monday to friday is ridiculous
its interesting how you think its out of order for a claimant to have the weekend off but its ok for you to have the weekend off. you should therefore work 7 days a week to ensure the service is available to those you expect to search 7 days a week.

like they would really put 2-3 hours if that's what they meant not several

How you see that is up to you, I see it as several is a lot more than 3
i would say they mean more than 2 but no more than 5. if they wanted more than that they would either state the number of hours or they would say all day. by all day they would mean between 6 to 8 hours.

I agree with that mon-fri for the whole year wouldn't be enought. However I also think the claiment should entitled to some time off and a bit of a break on the weekend every so often should be allowed. I understand while we can't go away during the week and appreciate that but can't understand while the occasional weekend beak Saturday am till Sunday pm isn't allowed. Or is it? It is something I have been meaning to ask my advisor but keep forgetting.
you can go away during the week. you just fill in a going away form. 2 weeks per year you are allowed to go away. you must give a contactable phone number agree to certain jobseeking tasks while away like looking in local papers and you must agree to come straight back for a job. really though thats just a box ticking exercise. you also have to report back on your first day back.

But I feel she is just saying claimants should do as little as possible over as short as period as possible.
i am not saying that at all. i am saying legally all they can require of you is what you have agreed to. an agreement that has common sense is what i am suggesting should be the case. that is how they used to be until this get tough nonesense came along. it would say something like jobsearch 3 to 4 days per week. this is correct because it takes into account that some weeks have holidays in them, some weeks you may be ill for a day or 2, some weeks you may have a funeral to attend etc.

Methinks they were referring to your 'I know I only have to do this so that's all I'll do because no ones told me different' attitude.
but i never said that did i.

The 'they' I was referring to was claimants taking the easier option.
of course you conveniently missed where i said i assume 7 days.

I said I send about 10 a week. I apply for up to 100 jobs in a 2 week period. You didn't, but whatever...

There is no way I can send 300 specs in that period. Who is asking you to send 300 specs?
You now apply for 40 advertised and 10 spec per week. I am saying try 40 spec and 10 advertised. I didn't realise I would have
to spell it out to you.

How then do you determine who is likely to recruit? You don't, it's a numbers game, get enough out there and some will fall into the hands of the right people.

I think over 1000 specs is a good level.
Zero would have achieved the same result.
