Mandatory work program

I have been sent on a mwa today at a cleaning company working in blocks of flats. When did we stop having breaks at work it britain? It was a 7 1/2 hr day and i got one ten min break to eat lunch and even that i felt i was being rushed. I really do feel like the jobcentre go out of their way to make looking for work as hard as possible. Stop writing stupid rules. Why cant the mwa work in jobs at profit making companies instead of community based, that would give jobseekers the opportunity to find the type of work that will lead to a bettwr way of life. Instead we are all sent to charity shops or a few other community based placements. If its supposed to help all unemployed people then it has to become all inclusive.

Because no company that actually is a real business would so this

You are entitled to a 20 min break so ask for that tomorrow!

The MWA is not meant to help all unemployed as not all get made to do it

Its not the work programme as you have put for the heading here though

Mandatory work activity. Very tired sorry. The work program is a way to make it look like someone is doing something to help a jobseeker when the jobseeker actually has less funding available.

This all depends on how you look at it.

You don't have a job and hence no income. You are reliant on others to give you an income so you can feed and clothe yourself. You have gone to the state and signed a form that basically says "I can't provide for myself, can you support me? I promise to look for a job".

Those that pay the piper, pick the tune, as they saying goes. That means the state will pay you, but you need to do whats said. Its not mandatory, you can sign off at any time, you just don't get the JSA, which is usually (and rightly) a gateway to other benefits. These benefits provide a roof over your head (if you have to pay rent and can't), perhaps supports your children (if you have any), removes you (mostly) from civil bills like council tax etc.

So as part of this, you have to work, this involves :
    • Working hard
    • Getting no/short lunch
    • Having a boss telling you what to do
Which is exactly what every other employed person has had to face over the years.

    Its good practice.

Perhaps it makes you hate the "stupid rules". I say those rules are part of working.

Perhaps it makes you hate doing this work. I say its a good incentive to find your own work and get paid more than JSA.

Either way you get my point.

Good luck and welcome to what millions of people do every day (something you aspire to with Job Seekers allowance).

EVERYONE is entitled to a 20 min break if they work more than 6 hours

If there is a job the person should be paid imo. NMW at least.

Oh look, another cretin with no concept of how benefits work. The majority of people getting JSA HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR IT THROUGH NI CONTRIBUTIONS, YOU SLACK-JAWED TROGLODYTE.

You're wrong there - the number of IB JSA claimants is considerably higher than those in receipt of CB JSA.

I know a few people on JSA who have not worked more than 6 months, claiming for years.

There are a few, but not all, who have not contributed any of their own earnings back into the system

After tax and NI how much difference is there between what you would receive at minimum wage and the total amount of benefits you receive?

Yeah and theres lots of people who have worked for for years and years and through no fault of their own have been made redundant and cant get a job because they are seen as been too old ect.
If people were just given a proper paid job through a job creation scheme then they would be able to contribute once more properly.
