I assume at various times it's been used in a derogatory manner. We've have no cause, or care, to ban it in its correct use. It will have come from MSE users themselves flagging it to us, over either a prolonged period or as a constant resource issue.

We have no reason to start banning random words for no reason.

Looking at your post, does the filter only ban the first bit or the whole word (or did you manually put the !!!!less together)?

Thank you - the filter replaced the first four letters of the word with four exclamation marks. The letters that were replaced are f e c k.

MSE is the only "social media" site that I post on. I like the anonymity of the users and the relative honesty of the posts. I hope it doesn't become a 'see and be seen' kind of place.

Possibly makes it clearer as to why the word was filtered as it was almost certainly being used abusively as an alternate to another well know four letter word beginning with f.

I don't believe this is the case at all.
I believe that f e ckless is an insult used against unemployed people and others claiming benefits. In that context it has become quite an offensive word, and so it was banned.

Obviously there are contexts where it isn't offensive, but the filter can't be that clever.

That is the way I saw it frequently used before it was added to the filter. Certainly deserves to be in there.

could we have more colour grids and less borders please, i'm at the moment lobbying for less borders around the world teehee i also like use of collage for background on the main page - you could click on each picture and go

i think i have an interest in keeping everything illustrative and pictursque because i knwo i wouldn't inform myself otherwise - but then i'm probably only minority

It can still be used abusively by putting a space between each letter, so I'm afraid your horse has dropped dead at the starting gate.

Ditto.

Am not on Facebook for that very reason - even though that means I miss out on things like the preview email. Which I find wierd if I'm honest as I still think MSE should get the preview, not Facebook.

My only request is that MSE stays true to MSE - saving money. I can adapt to forum redesigns - what I can't adapt to is something that makes me reveal everything about myself to just post a comment.
