That is a good point for the redesign? Less buttons and gimmicks, and more moneysaving content instead please?
i suspect though some of those buttons are to incentivise those who contribute to the money saving part of the forum. Have you seen the competitions board, it feels like they're addicted to their accolades - so may be i'm wrong and these buttons afterall serve its purpose. Actually it might not be so much the buttons but the way how it looks. But it is not the site designer' fault, it is how this bullettin (or whatever it is called) has been designed. Unless they banishthe bulletins designer and the format changes, the look of these buttons that we have now, cannot be changed, rightly or wrongly that is my understanding.
At best it should not have been sent out in the format it was with a link, at worst it is possible the above poster is correct.0 -
Any chance a small
button can be added to thread titles in the board view? Spamming is getting more and more serious problem.
As the first post content can be viewed without opening the thread, there is no point in wasting time on opening the thread and scrolling down a long post and then coming back just to click a 'Spam' button. You need very devoted members for doing this. As a result, spam threads often live long and clatter the board(s).0 -

You could have a 128 character hi-ascii MSE password, but if your email password was "password", then all your forum (and banking) are belong to teh hackerz.
And by that, I mean, hacker gets access to your email account, or forwards it, or copies it. Then just uses "forgotten password" links. And scours your email for dates of birth, other password clues. Sometimes sites will send out a password reminder of the actual password, and if your other passwords are the same, then Bingo - they're into everything. They'll then change your password and email address and lock you out.
It's a real shame there isn't a 2-factor authentication module for vbulletin, but meantime if you have MS Outlook/Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail etc, you can make yourself almost totally unhackable (barring stupidity) following these simple tips:
http://lifehacker.com/5938565/heres-everywhere-you-should-enable-two+factor-authentication-right-now
and here's why: http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/google-two-step-authentication/
Same goes for Dropbox, Box.com, twitter, facebook, Blogger, Wordpress, Evernote, Steam and so on. If you've got ANY of the the above, you really really should enable 2-factor auth.
Stay safe
I'm put off this by the thought of spammy texts.. Don't mind for sites where important data is uses, but reluctant to do it for everywhere possible just yet..0 -
Can I pop up this suggestion? - (1 2 3 ... Last Page) linking in threads titles
It's done :T, but in the thread view only. Any plans to do the same in the board view (that's what I actually suggested)?0 -
Please bring back the thread pages going up in 10's. I, and a good number of users of Competition Time have found it going up or down in single numbers very inconvenient, especially as the board is regularly updating throughout the day and can throw you back or forward multiple pages at a time.
It is also very inconvenient when you are searching for competitions closing on a certain day when you need ro be jumping a gifh amount of pages.0 -
Absolutely agree - only having 2 page numbers showing makes the Competition Time forum virtually impossible to use. Even 5 would be an improvement, but please put it back how it was.0

I totally agree with the above,,, i can see why this would not affect majority of the forum users.. but on Competition Time specifically its not helpful at all...BACK and READY..... waiting on Royal Mail!!!0 -
So frusrating today only being able to move a page at a time. I hope this is not a so-called 'improvement'0

whats happened to the board?..its impossible to use with the 1 page at a time thingy.. glad to see its not just me though hopefully it will change back before too long.0

I am finding it unhelpful and I have never looked at Competition Time
What was so wrong with it before that someone thought this was an improvement?!?Apparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0
