PLEASE start a new auction site. I think many of us are sick and tired of seeing ebay everywhere you look. I was watching gone of those cash in the attic programme or something similar today and at the end it said 'sponsered by ebay' with their logo all across the screen. It seems like you just cant get away from them. Yes i have been using ebay now to buy and sell for about 5 years but they are just taking more and more of the money you make and charging for things that used to be free.
I have friends and family that use ebay and we were discussing this thread and coming up with some ideas. One of which would be that we would all be willing to stand in the town centre advertsing '******' (whatever your new auction site would be) by handing out leaflets etc in return for free listings/referral fees/ credits, whatever. Perhaps a reference could be stamped on the back of the leaflet and then if the person signed up to your site they would put that reference in and we get whatever in return. Just ideas for you to think of. Good luck!

Now that its getting deeper, i launched a dating website last year and spent around £10,000 on marketing it. But at that time, my resources were limited and could not continue with it. I still have the complete site and the database with me. Just in case anyone is interested. There are around 6000 members who joined the community in just 15 days. But I had sevre personal problems and could not do much about continuing this project and just left it to die.

    Thanks
    Terry[/QUOTE]

I must be missing something here. Firstly, if there is so much money to be made in a dating website why bother with ebay at all. If there were 6000 members in 15 days then it must have been free and if you can attract that sort of response then why do you need to do research? If these were paid up members then I hope you offered a refund when you "just jeft it to die". Since you now apparently have new wealth then why not relaunch?

I’m sorry, but this doesn’t make any financial sense at all – there are too many inconsistencies and the only known fact is an apparent ability to obtain examination certificates by fraud – hardly a sound basis for running an auction site based on trust!
    I came, I saw, I did a little browsing.

no offence Terry but i think this is not the right place to try and get all these people signing up as you want. Nobody on here is stupid and what you are saying is not making sense. You are some big whizz with all these excellent businesses behind you and some big site developing - that leads me to beleive that you are a good business man. Then you tell us you want to pump £10,000 a month into a project that has absolutly no chance of succeding.

Anybody with a business sense would realise that attacking Ebay with your budget is laughable and if you were serious and wanted people to sign up wit their email address there is no way that the page where you ask people to sign up would be acceptable - it looks like it has been constructed by a child.

As the above poster said - you spent all that money (£10,000 seems to pop up a lot with you) then you left it to die? I cant see many people actually doing that.

I think you either live in a dream world or you are actually telling the truth but this idea will also be left to die once you have email addresses of everyone.

    Hi again Tojo,

Dunno if you are going to reply to this one, but all I want is help in my research. Im not going to use email addresses for spamming. I never believed in it. And one doesn't believe in my research or on me being genuine, do not join my research. Its as simple as that.

    Thank
    Terry

    Terry,

As you appear to want me to respond, I shall ..... With a question.

Yesterday you described the X-Simulation website you own as..... "Another project we are launching in a few months"

Yesterday however, your website was in fact live, selling exam revision tools, tools I could have purchased online from you by adding to basket and checking out.

Your website had in fact been live for some time, and had recently been updated by you to note the 100s of units sold to date since the site's launch.

Your website also carried glowing feedback from customers around the world who had purchased your products and sailed through their exams.

Hardly a project due to launch in a few months?

All of the above..... So much ongoing success..... yet 5 minutes after I posted the link..... It's all gone..... All the links dead..... No more products..... Nowhere for purchasers to go for updates..... No chance for me to join the never ending list of satisfied customers..... All gone..... Finito..... No more.

Worse still, for all the hundreds of units you sold, for all the success you were having, for all the happy, smiling customers, I cannot find one single solitary reference to your products anywhere on the internet..... not one.

So to my question, which relates to the above.

    Q. Why? .....

In Reference to the member who mentioned starting their own site i have just done this but dont want to post anything here as i am new to the site and the forums . there is only a fee for listing , no ending fees , no commission etc . I have only been up for a week and only 12 people have joined so far but im sure in time i can outsell e-bay

i dont want to get into trouble here if anyone wants to email me then i can give them a link to the site or if someone advises how i can make a referral to the site im sure our original poster would be more than happy , and with a reference to martins e-bay article , i check all listings and any i suspect i suspend until thoroughly followed up , i can also ban these users

Or post responses here with advice and i will reply

Sorry, but there is a lot of effort being put into these new auction sites but you havent got a hope of success.
In the US Ebay raised their fees in February, there was uproar and a new site was launched, it lasted less than a week, several hundred sellers spent a lot of time setting up, but they got no customers, you can read about it here

Having read Pascali's link, some would do well to read the following.....

With five years experience selling on EBay... Three years of research... And hundreds of ex EBay store owners backing it... It still went down the pan within a week.

The following is very much relevant, and relates to http://greenzap.com/ who are attempting something what would appear to be a far simpler task than taking on EBay at the auction game. They are reportedly trying to set up in competition with Paypal, to offer a cheaper option for online auction payments.

    A good article.....

The level of effort "others" are going to with regards to "investigating" Greenzap.....
