I didn't realise that re serious mobility problems. Where's the cut off point re serious? If can't get to loo in own home?
I would only consider dual homes as I think it would be such an upheaval to have to change homes. One change from a happy own home would be bad enough.
There are far fewer single registration homes around now, many residential homes are upgrading and becoming dual registered residential/nursing homes.
It's worth remembering that the majority of homes are businesses, so they will take the 'easiest' people and will accept or decline someone according to what ratio of easy/difficult residents they can best cope with.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

To handle any form of medication, you need to have a Registered Nurse on the premises 24/7. A 'care home' wouldn't have this requirement AFAIK.
They are all 'care homes' now. There are no longer 'residential homes' or 'nursing homes', they are either 'care homes without nursing' or 'care homes with nursing'.

I would think a care home with nursing would have the full range of facilities but you may still need to check the details with the home to be sure.

    Hi all

Just another update - been to the solicitor's this afternoon, signed the documents and had them witnessed, paid the bill (£160 + VAT) and we now have the copies safely in the grey fireproof box with all the other important documents. All done and dusted.

The only other thing I need to do - discussed this afternoon with the solicitor - is to write to them stating what's to happen to personal possessions, family history records, precious photographs, all those type of things, in the event of this house needing to be sold to fund a place in a care home for the survivor. Said letter is to be kept with our wills at the solicitor's. Just to prevent our precious things being chucked into a skip. Nothing of any great intrinsic value, but some of it irreplaceable nonetheless.

Now all I have to do is to get better of this fractured pelvis!!!
