Talk Talk (internet and phone) - how bad is it really? Good experiences or bad ones?

Thinking of switching to Talk Talk because it's the only ISP offering decent deals on my exchange - bar none.
I hear bad things from some people - but I also hear good things from others.
Any views on switching, please? Is it all bad, or are there a lot of happy customers out there? The happy ones, of course, tend to say nothing, but the unhappy ones (naturally) are the most vociferous.
Thanks for any help.

I am willing to pay more so as not to have TT services .
The happy or ignorant of any problems do say nothing .

I found when I changed from bt to talk talk at my old house they were fantastic. Then I moved and had three months of hell sorting out my Internet. I left them and went back to bt.
As with banks you can get good and bad.
Must admit their latest offers are quite tempting.Don’t put it down - put it away!

TT is absolutely fine until you get a technical issue or a billing problem that requires human intervention.
Then you find out why they are so cheap.
But if they are the only LLU game in town then I'd give it a go, unless you are prepared to pay more for a non-LLU service. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I've been with them for 2 years now and had no problems with phone or broadband and at £12.75 a month for phone and broadband I think it's good value.0

I'd agree with macman above - customer service is truly, truly awful - script reading buffoons springs to mind. I also found the sales team pretty rude too on occasion!
I left them last year and now pay more just to be rid of them.....0 -
I've been with them a year and they are the only ones I can afford. Not much choice at my exchange..
TT are Fine while you don't have to talk to their call centre in India. That's when you bump into being read scripts that bear no relation to your question.
The web email is always "too busy" to be working.
I soon learned to send letters to the UK correspondence department who did resolve things and were generous with credits to compensate for errors.
The wireless router doesn't stand up properly and it disconnects daily. You just have to pull 3 wires out and push them back in again to re-set. Easier to do that than calling technical and frustrate yourself for an hour on premium rate phone charges if you phone from non TT line.
On the whole - marvellous
Edit:- I was with Orange prior to Talk Talk. Orange were so bad they make Talk Talk look like the John Lewis of the comms world. Maybe that's why I'm happy to add wire pulling to my daily routine.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.

I've been with Talk Talk for my phone and broadband when they only had either 512 or 1gb. I have had no problem with them when I phoned tehnical services.0

I'm one of the "fine till it goes wrong" brigade. I refuse to phone the helplines as they are a complete misnomer and you can almost hear the pages turning as they rummage through the script, then tell you that there's nothing they can do about it.
Emailing help tends to get you pointed towards the on-line forums rather than specific help.
Webmail has been a bit hit and miss since talk talk took over Tiscali who I used to be with, but seems to have been behaving itself more recently.
I just bought my own router in the end.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I've been with them for about 7 years, no problems at all. I recently changed to fibre and all problems were sorted out via the TT members forum - ok you do have to wait sometimes for them to reply but I dread the thought of having to phone them! Maybe I've just been lucky but I've heard bad things about all providers so I just thought they were worth a try.0

No major problems for me. I was on standard BB for last year and complained about a slow connection. they were vaguely helpful but I think ultimately the problem was my distance to exchange.
Recently upgraded to fibre with no problems, paying £8.25pm + £9.50 line rental and getting almost the advertised 38Mbps.0
