New Potterton Titanium has Low Pressure Error - Should we be concerned?

We have just moved into our new refurbished house a week today which had a new gas central heating installed with a new boiler and already this morning while using the shower and tap together, the hot water stopped flowing.

We checked the boiler and got an error 1 on the read.
Our installed didn't walk us through how to deal with any issues such as this so by looking on an online manual we found the repressure valve and returned the pressure to just over 1.

Should we be concerned that the pressure has dropped so quickly considering its a whole new setup and brand new boiler?

    Call the installer.

    Call the installer.

;) If it occurs again, maybe, but its NOT a problem to possible have to re-pressure slightly on a new install, especially if the system has been OFF for some time as is possible in this case.
What i would be checking though is if there is still air trapped in the system that hasn't been released, and do that, and then top up again and see if it maintains pressure before calling anyone! ;)

Whilst Ted's first paragraph is spot on CH's advice is perfectly valid. Whilst the system is still under warranty (as it should be) then it is the installer's [STRIKE]responsibility[/STRIKE] obligation to deal with this sort of issue. Don't gerfingerpoke - you might just give him the opportunity to walk away from that obligation on the basis that "you've been fiddling with it and broken it".

O.P. : as an aside has the Benchmark been completed ,have you received The Buildings Regs compliance cert and has the 7 year parts & labour warranty been registered with Potterton....and call your installer for advice as this should be part of the service provided to you FOC.

With a new install its worth bleeding all the radiators a few times and ensuring all the bleed points are tight. Unfortunately its not the time of year when you need CH, but 30 minutes or so a day will help get the air into the radiators.

Our new boiler lost pressure due to a slightly loose fitting on the towel rail. Once tightened all has been fine.

Nothing you have said changes the very simple fact that it is still the installer's responsibility to fully commission the full system and not the OPs..

Not sure if the benchmark was completed but the project manager said I should be expecting a letter in the post for the gas cert. Is this seperate?
Building compliance I believe will be provided to me upon completion of all the work as there are a couple of problem areas outstanding.

I believe he has registered the warranty but how can I double check?

I went round yesterday afternoon and checked in all the radiators to see if sny visible leaks and checked the visible pipes in cellar for leaks, but nothing.

This morning it had reached error 1 again and for the 5th time in 24hrs, I had to refill the boiler.

As a side note, for over 10 days the boiler worked fine for just 2 of us.
Over the weekend we had visitors for 2 days and since their arrival the pressure has been dropping.

So you either have a leak on the CH circuit, or it's discharging from the PRV overflow pipe-have you looked outside to see?
That rate of loss hould be fairly obvious-so get the installer back pronto.

Its rather unfortunate that the installer doesn't seem to have access to a telephone so I presume that you were knocking on his door at 08:00 this morning?
