If your ex is gettig the Child Tax credits then SHE has to organise and claim for the child care.

It is however reasonable but not required that you might want to have him for a whole week or more during the school holidays? Just to have time together. During that week you would be responsible for him.

You ex cannot have it all ways; either she is the PWC and take responsibility for looking after your son and arranging child care, or you are the PWC and you take that responsibility.

As ask previously, married or not? House in joint names or not and what sort of tenancy if you are both named (Joint or tenants in common)?

If you are married go hunt out wikidivorce as there is loads of good free advice there.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

it does not have to be all or nothing, surely? Some couples successfully share these responsibilities 50-50 both before and after breaking up.
