Ooh!! I'd always wondered about freezing chopped onions and peppers! It's one of those things that I always mean to look up and try and never get around to it!
I know you can buy bags of them ready chopped, which I do sometimes as I don't always want a whole onion, but if I could do it myself that would be so much better as I prefer red onions and hate green peppers which you always seem to get loads of in the pre-prepared bags.
Will give it a go after I next go shopping. Thanks for that! :T
I chop & open freeze the onions & peppers then bag them up.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
Grrr DD1 has had to change one of her GCSE subjects and is now doing Food Technology. Although I am happy with this, she came in today and announced she needs cooking ingredients for WEDNESDAY !! So i've taken advantage of free delivery from Mr A due to pass, and got some other bits I wasn't going to get just yet. However, now means that my spends are creeping up earlier than planned. Hoping next time she has a recipe, I will have ALL ingredients in; otherwise never going to achieve hitting target at this rate.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £119.37/£150 Sep £70.91‼️/£150 £/£160 Oct (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. I would separate any spend you need to do for your daughter, this is not classed as food budget it comes under education0 -

Thats true but I will eventually probably use some of the ingredients myself and some I already had in, just wasn't planning on it yet!. Technically we will be eating it, so I guess still food. I'm lucky in that I love baking and that i would have normally had everything in, but was missing brown sugar and cheapy chocolate. Will see how I get on. I managed when she used to do FT, so will just need to get prepared. As it was her first lesson, she didn't have much notice this time round!GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £119.37/£150 Sep £70.91‼️/£150 £/£160 Oct (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. I've been haemorrhaging money this week!
DS has sprouted this week! I swear that boy sleeps in a flaming gro-bag!! So I've bought him a few cheap pairs of joggers from as da. My printer cartridges also needed replacing this week, which are a must for my Uni work....
A few other things I wasn't budgeting for have been required but it was a good months wage for me so I'm still pleased if I'm spending on things I really actually need instead of frittering it all on needless luxuries
I need to work out my totals from posts and then get my signature up to date... Is it working now?
Oh, can I also just say the I agree about the soup! I made the carrot and sweet potato soup at the beginning of this thread, and it was lovely... Even my fussy DS ate it and even asked for it tonight!! HM chocolate cake for pudding.Sometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying
