  • Hello again. The second GC for me and as last months budget got blasted out of the water £596.84/£400 I've had a rethink. I think the budget of £400 set was unrealistic for us, especially when looking back we were spending £680 per month. In real terms we have saved over £80 on previous months so not all bad. This month we're hosting a party at home for around 20 guests so I'll allow extra for that but will set a budget of £600 from 5th September to 3rd October Maybe I'll get nearer to budget this month ;) x

Can I join in? I last posted in Jan of this year, since then I havn't really tried very hard but after several operations I am on the way to being able to walk again and I can't wait to get into the sm for the ys bargains. (sad isn't it when that is one of my first ambitions)

I have added up what I have spent these last few months on food - horrendouis - but at least I have plenty in the freezers. So after a little forward planning I should be able to manage on £136 for this month (2 people and 2 dogs) I have already spent £18.48 on a takeaway but then again it was my birthday.

Another small spend ... 99p on mushy peas and 50p for YS yoghurts in Mr M.

Must stay out of the shops now til I use the £5 off £40 Mr T spend online, as will soon be halfway through the budget.

    Help!

I am making chicken and chorizo pasta for tea and the only white wine in the house is Lambrusco! Will it be okay to use in this dish?
(It was a gift as we only drink red..... Just in case you were wondering lol)

I was late in last night and DH really fancied a takeaway so £5.50 spent on a chippy tea. We haven't had any kind of takeaway for 2 weeks which is pretty good going for us:). Managed to catch up with the washing up too.

Also spent £5.86 on bread, deodorant, baking pots and some GF digestives to make rocky roads. These were cheaper than mr t so thought I would get them as I saw them.

I am also adding the £1.50 I spent on a jacket potato at work yesterday because I forgot to defrost bread for my sandwich:o

The chicken gratin planned for last night we will have tonight. I may make the GCJ lemon puddings if DH fancies them.

I now have £51.28 to last 16 days and DH has requested steak:eek: I am going to tweak the meal plan to cut my planned spends but am feeling a little bit confident that if I am to under I will be at least close. My month ends on the 19th of September.

I went in my local (express) supermarket this morning to buy a fruit pot but they didn't have any so my money stayed in my pocket. :money: I did notice though that reductions are done at the beginning of the day but not much off and likewise come lunchtime, still the same price reduction. Will have to pop in after work and see if the price has dropped to grab and run price !

Sadly my spends today increased from 32p for my bag of pasta as we got invited to a last minute bbq but I stayed sensible and only bought what was on offer and just what we would eat. I think our evening out cost less than £8 - and we had a lovely time so worth the expense. I suppose I should invent a budget for this !!

Love the Grab and Run description, glad you enjoyed your night out, personally I do find it worthwhile to have a budget for nights out, takeaway I call it my entertainment budget, though I do still try to keep it within the grocery challenge, but means I can buy my DGS a chippy tea when he comes to stay

  • Another £3.20 spent last night as I realised after cooking tea that I didn't have enough tortilla wraps to feed everyone, and that the kids had eaten all the cheese at lunchtime! No spending today so far today though! Have updated my signature.

  • Had GCJ Salmon Pasta for tea, was absolutely gorgeous, clean plates all round. 26p spent at Tesco Express on woopsied Teacakes for supper. Otherwise a good day for not spending much:)
£2015 in 2015 (Although actual goal is £10 a day)
