I would imagine a NOkia adapter from old to new should be sent out, in my case my N70 came with one & a old style adapter
time will come like QWERTY, we will have be a international standard to follow.........now that will cut down on waste/postage etc etc...........SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

Yes you are right diamonds, there is an adapter in each box to use an old charger with it. Not saying it is the right thing to do by nokia but o2 have no control over it.:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0

mates N95 came with the new style charger, not old + adapter, i think its the right way forward to be honest, I have 1 new & 3 old nokia chargers here and only 1 new style adapter phone - N73, so 2 of them old chargers - I picked up converter adapters for for 4 squid each ( or a could have paid 25squid each for 2 new syle genuine chargers ) and the one from my N73 box is a new style - 4 chargers, 3 in use 1 dormant
if all my old chargers go faulty & I need a new one, well old style is alot cheaper than new style even when buying the adapter - thats True MSE'ing !
most people have a spare Nokia charger floating about & if they dont a quick e-mail around family/friends/work will bag you a freebie - and thats again TRUE mse'ing
( and more importantly recycling )
nokia know how many genuine adapters over the years they have produced and distrubuted, they know a large proportion of these are still in use, cuts costs for them/us & is enviromentally friendly - so they through in a adapter
My K800i last year came with a new style charger, and have they designed the new charger to be backwards/forwards compatable NO - they have decided to cash in on the " accesssories " market, lets not fool ourselves here, nokia have saved money on the new models by not including a charger but they also have lost massive revenue on aftersales - they need to be applauded for that, instead you get a simple adapter for the old skool chargersSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

I upgraded my o2 handset a couple of days ago, it arrived today. Like a kid on
Christmas morning I opened it all up ready to play with my new toy. Then like a disappointed kid on Christmas morning whose parents forgot the batteries I discovered there was no charger! I just couldn't believe it. So I called them up to be told that a lot of upgrades from o2 these days don't come with chargers as you can use your old one! So I asked the member of staff how I was expected to use a Nokia charger with a Sony Ericsson. The change from Nokia to Sony was something the original upgrade assistant was well aware of as we'd discussed it at length. I've now got to wait until tomorrow to get a charger and be able to use the new phone. What kind of company doesn't send a bloody charger!??!?
Just thought it was worth warning people who might be upgrading on o2, particularly if you are swapping brands its worth demanding a charger.
I am just about to phone O2 for a new upgrade and luckily checked MSE first! Thank you so much for this warning as I am probably going to change from a Nokia to a Sony Ericsson also and I would have been gutted if I couldn't play with it as soon as it arrived!! I will now make sure I ask them to include a charger! :T0 -
I upgraded with o2 in Jan and it came with charger as all brand new phones do. Complain!0

Hi, I work for o2 and I can confirm it is NOT a refurb .
It is a pilot scheme Nokia are trying as they are convinced that most people have had a nokia at some point and therefore will have a charger somewhere. The other benefit they say comes from it, is that it is classed as a 'letterbox' drop which means that if you are not in they can fit through a letterbox.
Isn't the OP referring to a Sony Ericsson phone though?0 -
my bf upgraded, he got a charger in the box. was the phone sealed? they usually are.0

It was a sony ericsson, it wasn't exactly sealed as they come in a different type of box to save on the postage and fit through letterbox. I complained first thing this morning and they are sending one out for tomorrow morning and have given me some money back too

In retrospect its a great idea, no one needs to be in to sign for it cus it fits through letterbox, therefore i don't have to take a trip to the post office depot like normally happens. I'm also all for helping the environment by saving on needless packaging. I do however feel like I've missed out a bit, no charger, no cleaning cloth (don't know if sony ericssons come with them like nokias do), no carry case like i got with my nokia last year. Just the phone, usb and headset stuff in the packet.0 -
On a slightly different tangent I received a Motorola V3 last year from DAP that appeared to have been re sealed.
I asked them about this and they advised me that the phone had been in demand and therefore sourced from a different supplier or wholesaler and thus had to be flashed with the relevent software for my network. This phone was locked to that network whereas the other that came at the same time was not.
About 6 months later I had cause to phone up Motorola about the phone and they advised me that according to the IMEI number it was originally supplied for the Middle Eastern market, and that warranties etc may have been an issue.
To cut a long story short i had issues when the phone had to be repaired under the terms of the insurance. In the end they and DAP agreed to swap it for a Nokia 6111. When I happened to mention the IMEI number issue they told me that had that have come to light straight away they would have changed the phone for me regardless of its condition/state of repair, as the guarantee may not have been valid.
I was sooo glad to get rid of that phone - it was nothing but trouble. My wife is still using hers, she has a nice Nokia 5300 that she can use but wants to stay with her V3.
If you get replacement phones or the seal seems dodgy its worth IMO a call to the manufacturer to check th status of the guarantee and its intended market etc.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0
