o2 Upgrade Warning
I upgraded my o2 handset a couple of days ago, it arrived today. Like a kid on
Christmas morning I opened it all up ready to play with my new toy. Then like a disappointed kid on Christmas morning whose parents forgot the batteries I discovered there was no charger! I just couldn't believe it. So I called them up to be told that a lot of upgrades from o2 these days don't come with chargers as you can use your old one! So I asked the member of staff how I was expected to use a Nokia charger with a Sony Ericsson. The change from Nokia to Sony was something the original upgrade assistant was well aware of as we'd discussed it at length. I've now got to wait until tomorrow to get a charger and be able to use the new phone. What kind of company doesn't send a bloody charger!??!?
Just thought it was worth warning people who might be upgrading on o2, particularly if you are swapping brands its worth demanding a charger.

How strange!! I assumed all phones were packaged with a charger by the manufacturer.
I upgraded my sons phone on O2 to a Nokia N95 last month and it came with everything. The box was sealed. Maybe it's just Sony Ericsson??0 -
They said it was happening with a lot of the new upgrades now, maybe its a very new thing.
At a pure guess I think I've worked out why they aren't sending chargers. The upgrades now come in a very small package which saves on unnecessary packaging (which is a great thing for the environment etc) and can also be posted through the letterbox (personally I wouldn't be happy with my new phone dropping from letterbox to floor). Anyway I reckon they designed this package but forgot to leave room for a charger! then decided afterwards to act like they don't offer them as standard any more.0 -
Sounds more like it is a re-furb phone to me!!!!0
-
Yep - phone is a refurb.
All new phones come with a charger........0 -
No its definitely not a refurb, and i just phoned to check and they said o2 only send out refurb's for insurance claims0

Plus all latest Nokia have a different charger to the old style Nokia's does seem strange.
The N95 I got from O2 was brand new in an unopened box that still had the manufacturers seal on it.Cheers

Hi, I work for o2 and I can confirm it is NOT a refurb .
It is a pilot scheme Nokia are trying as they are convinced that most people have had a nokia at some point and therefore will have a charger somewhere. The other benefit they say comes from it, is that it is classed as a 'letterbox' drop which means that if you are not in they can fit through a letterbox.:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -

Now that would of been a good idea last year and is in fact what O2 do with our Company Phones. However from a consumer perspective this is the first time in many years Nokia have changed their power adapter.
So I upgrade from my 6230i to say a N95 or 6300 and my old 6230i Charger will not fit and work with the N95.
It will therefore cost O2 even more money for double shipping.Cheers
