Go through your installed programs and uninstall anything you know you dont need. If you're not sure - dont remove it!

Give CCleaner a run to clear some of the crap.

Download AdwCleaner from the link below & save it to your desktop.

    LINK

    Then,
    • Double click AdwCleaner.exe to run it.
    • Click Delete.
    • Click OK to the prompt.
    • The tool will run & your computer will be rebooted automatically. A logfile will open after the restart.
    • Post the contents of the logfile with your next reply, or email me it.
    • You can also find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[s1].txt.

run wiztree and see if there's anything amongst the top 1000 largest files that you don't need

buy an external portable 500Gb (or so) usb drive for around £40, and when you have freed up enough space on the c: drive to install it, do a macrium reflect free backup and boot cd.

in the meantime, nokia pc suite, pc connectivity, eset scanner, adaware and any old printer/camera/scanner software/drivers could go.

Red Faction and Rollercoaster Tycoon are taking up a lot of space.
How do I save the data but reduce to free up disk space?

Thanks very much for all of your help guys.

The computer is up an running ok now.

Whats the verdict on the ADW cleaner log?

I've bought myself an external hard drive (Verbatim 500gb).

My son wants to save his Red Faction and Roller Coaster Tycoon stuff. How do I take them off to store safely?

without any figures of whats using up what, impossible to advise on the clearout, the game itself may use up far more than a saved game. There's always some bloat that can be removed to free up space. Windows uses about 3GB, so 70+GB is used up somewhere.

suggest you do a macrium backup if you have enough space to install it.

    It looks fine.

It will have been the previous run (22:37:43) that deleted the conduit bloat shown in the DDS log.

I've shifted some videos and photos to the external hard drive, what more can I do to free up some space?

As I said, you haven't told us what's taking up how much space, so it's like saying my car boot is full, what can I throw away. Post a screen shot of wiztree's results

If you're moving anything important to the external drive, be aware that they can and do fail, best used for backups or unimportant data
