    Spade connectors in a fuel tank would be shorted out by the fuel.

    i have changed plenty of fuel pumps on various cars and they all mostly use normal spade connectors,a few are bolted on but not many.petrol is non conductive of electrical current as is oil and diesel

    That's ok if there is no moisture in the fuel tank.

    Besides petrol has a very low conductivity, that doesn't mean that it won't conduct at all.

    moisture in a fuel tank is more of a problem for the running of the vehicle than conducting electricity.how many explosions that you know of in vehicles have been caused by the connectors on the pumps
