Syphoning fuel

It's from 1998 and even that had an anti-siphon device so I ended up having to use the manual primping pump to get it all out. You could try that if it's a diesel. Easy to do but very laborious.
*A lesson for the veg oil burners. If you only ever visit a filling station to fill a bike with petrol then have an emergency trip to make in the car but not enough filtered oil, be very careful when you take the car to put some dino in....0 -
It would be much easier just to drill a hole in the fuel tank and get it out that way. If you have trouble seeing, just use a lighter to give you some light.
When finished, use some blu-tack to fill the hole in.
Make sure you take the air freshener out before you sell it as there might be a few weeks fragrance left in it.0 -
someone stole about a gallon from my mams 52 plate micra in bridlington whilst she was visiting a client.

remove the rear bench tap the lock ring off the fuel pump/sender unit with a screwdriver and hammer you should have a nice big hole to do what ever you like
Indeed but I tried the lock ring for 5 minutes with the tools I had with me (a screwdriver and allen keys) before giving up. In the end I decided it was quicker just to pump it out manually than to get SWMBO to come down and pick me up so I could get the correct tools. Luckily I had a couple of 20l cubies in the car0 -
lock ring is plastic and besides in the sender unit there is an electric motor of the brushed kind which sparks like crazy
Not on an old diesel like mine. The only fuel pump is next to the engine and driven mechanically when the engine is running. That's why there's a need for a manual priming bulb to rescue idiots me who either run out of fuel or have the need to flush the system.0 -

You might laugh but when I was a kid a neighbour gave me a can of petrol that was 50% water a fact we only discovered after we'd poured it into a car..
We drained the tank (old HB Viva) by punching a hole at the low point of the tank using a 4" nail. Once drained we repaired the hole using plastic padding. Worked just fine but thinking back it gives me the willies
We caught the liquid in a kitchen roasting tin, left it in a bucket in the garden overnight and decanted the petrol once all the water had settled out.
