    Thanks guys :)

This seems crazy that they take valuation money before application as we could be rejected and loose money!!

Thank you all for the kind words... the MA told us at the start of all this 'worst case scenario, we'll just go to Natwest '(apparently they take anyone:rotfl:)

But a better rate with Accord.

Good luck to all those still waiting.

  • Hi! Can I join, late to the party?

    2nd Mar - Offer accepted
3rd Mar - AIP approved with Barclays
4th Mar - Valuation paid for, waiting to hear back for a date.

Going to see broker tomorrow to hand in some more paperwork. Reading some of these stories is truly inspiring, but what a long wait! I don't know how I will manage all the waiting :P

  • Hi!

    Can we join?
We are using L&C as well. Our timeline so far -
Jan - quote from L&C for 250k mortgage
    15/02 - offer accepted
16/02 - instructed L&C to apply for 245k (20% deposit) - we were advised to go with Halifax
26/02 - Halifax AIP completed - broker requested documents all sent through
07/03 - I had a message from case worker earlier this evening telling me Halifax will lend 5k LESS than what we applied for!

I will phone tomorrow the case worker to discuss. However, this 5k is just money that we do not have! No idea what we are going to do...
Do you guys know if stamp duty tax, etc can be paid on credit cards?
We have already spent £500 for the mortgage application and £300 initial payment to solicitors - all after initial approval from Halifax for the full amount we asked for. We are now thinking we have to give up on the property and possibly end up £800 out of pocket. :(

We got our mortgage offer today from Woolwich. Our timeline is:

    12th Feb -offer accepted
    21st Feb - application submitted
2nd March - text to say valuation booked
    4th March -valuation takes place
7th March - text to say mortgage offer in post.

Our MA has been great and to be fair so have Woolwich. I was nervy about countrywide as I heard they undervalue but they valued it at our offer price so all good. Just have to finish all of the solicitor bits now only got the local search and enquiries to be answered and we should be on the way. Going to get an estimate of a completion date tommorow. Good luck to everyone else xx

My Nationwide mortgage adventure has come to an abrupt end :(

I have been declined based on new lending criteria Nationwide has just adopted. They will no longer accept customers that aren't paid in Pound Sterling and as I get paid in EURO, that's the end of that.

Had a mortgage with them before, had an offer with them that is actually still valid for the next 2 weeks, but now have been declined, while this new rule was implemented 2 months after I put in my new application. I figured something was playing, they had assured my MA a formal offer would be given a month ago, but after that constantly asking for information they had already received and bombarding my MA with silly questions, seems to me they were just delaying things, waiting for this new policy to be implemented...

I now get to apply for the 3rd time for a mortgage for the same house purchase, this one is going in with Santander.

07-03 DIP gone through, MA assessed affordability and lending criteria, all looks good.
08-03 Full mortgage application submitted by MA

Hoping for a fast turnover, my new build is supposed to be completed in around a month, though it's looking like they might have further delays, which could well be a godsend right now...

At least the Santander mortgage will not involve HTB, but going for a 90% LTV standard mortgage over 35 years. Will be looking to overpay to bring the term down drastically.

Sorry to hear about all that, but good luck with Santander :)
