Anyone want to join me? Awaiting Mortgage decision...

Hi all,
I'm a First time buyer through Natwest. I applied through a broker just before Easter, Thursday 2nd April. Broker advised me to send Natwest bank statements, proof of deposit and accounts (I'm self employed) as they had requested there. Posted the documents along with signed dd mandate Tuesday 7th. Not expecting to hear anything until next week however. Just wondered how likely/unlikely it would be (from anyone's experience) that this mortgage will go through ok-When they are asking for additional info such as bank statements etc is this a good sign? I passed the affordability checks and credit check I assume was ok also but naturally very nervous. It's a 95% ftb mortgage. Sole applicant, my gf will be living in the house also along with our son, however due to her poor credit record I'm applying in my name only. Not sure if this will be a problem or not, we aren't financially linked in any way, she does transfer money to my bank account every month for food shopping and her share of the car...bit concerned they'll see this on the bank statements and question it but I've already declared that she'll be staying there anyway.
Any help would be appreciated..0 -

I put my application through with Natwest on the 2nd and I only got through to valuation stage today. It could be something as simple as they need extra info (Natwest definitely like extra info , they ask for it a lot) they also have a tendency to 'forget' to tell you things (I had that issue)
I suggest calling them directly.. They have been wonderful informing me about things and and explaining the process etc! Even though I have gone through a broker, they have been happy to speak to me.
Hmm thanks, I might try giving them a call. I'm hoping it's just holiday slowness. Our MA has been brilliant so far, but I contacted her two days ago re our mortgage and an issue with our proposed insurance and haven't heard back, which only compounds my worrying :rotfl:0 -
Hi Sparkle and Taragon,
Its definitely a waiting game isn't it!
Although, we had some good news today. Mortgage Advisor emailed and told us he had received confirmation today that our mortgage application has been accepted by Santander and the valuation has been instructed today and should happen early next week.
PHEW!!!! All in all, not too long a process for us, time from mortgage in principle being issued to full application being submitted was 3 days and time from full application being submitted to valuation being instructed was also 3 days. Thanks Santander
Just hoping they value the house at the price we've offered now, otherwise we're slightly stuffed as I know our vendor wont budge, as we already knocked 2 grand off the price!
We still haven't instructed solicitors though, going to wait for valuation to come back before we start promising cash to the lawyers!!
Fantastic News Bilbo85, fingers crossed for valuation. We have not sent all out solicitors docs off yet either.0 -

I just feel like it's dragging. Our MA told us that Natwest has a 3-4 working day turn around. Assuming she submitted out paperwork on 01/04, they've had our stuff for a good 5 working days now. I'm hoping it's just an Easter delay as my credit reports show activity that they've looked at it. I just don't want to give the vendor of our property any excuse to get cold feet.
Our full app was submitted a few days after yours and I feel like its dragging toomy MA did say it would be longer due to Easter, so hopefully you will hear soon.

That's exactly the pattern we had with ours and they accepted us. I was beginning to think they'd got bored and just kept hitting F5 on my credit file for the sake of it one afternoon. Seriously, why the need to check three times in a day as we had? It won't change, guys..
Thanks Lizards, that's reassuring. Do you know how soon you heard from them after checking your report that they accepted you?
Edit: Sorry for all the quotes, getting used to forum. Now page is really long to read0 -
I'm in!
AIP with Natwest nearly 2 weeks ago, our broker uploaded our application a week ago but we are waiting to hand in my latest SA302. It's holding it up and as first time buyers and me being self employed I am scared!
Good luck everyone!0 -
According to Skipton's website my survey/valuation was received by them and the offer made on Thursday but I've had nothing in the post yet although it's only been two days. Done via broker
When I had the survey done for where I am now it was emailed to me the day after it was done. I asked the current surveyor to email it to me but they said it was against their guidelines!0 -
Still waiting on our offer
17/3 - Offer accepted and accepted offer on our current property.
19/3 - Full application sent to broker with payslips, P60s, bank statements, proof of gifted deposit form.
20/3 - Application sent by broker to nationwide (next day).
24/3 - The buyers survey was done on our current property.
25/3 - chased adviser for update on application.
25/3 - Credit score passed, Affordability passed. Initially wanted proof of bonuses for last two years. Broker asked them to re-key without bonuses as we should pass without, which we did so no longer required. Valuation instructed on our purchase (should happen in 4-5 days). Passed to senior underwriter (probably another 3-4 days until he gets to it).
28/3 - Land Registry plans received from solicitors to confirm plot requiring searches, instructed searches (also confirmation that draft papers have been received from sellers solicitors)
28/3 - T's & C's received in post from surveyors to sign and return
30/3 - Chased broker for update - nothing received
30/3 - Response from Nationwide, survey booked for 31/3, broker spoke to underwriter, no further info needed, mortgage offer is just pending successful survey.
30/3 - Searches on our purchase instructed
31/3 - Surveyor phoned to check any concerns on our intended purchase before he carries out the survey. Also checks regarding level of interest/competition when we offered (I guess to satisfy any potential concerns over valuation level etc).
31/3 - Our Estate Agent confirmed valuation on our property done, mortgage offer in post to our buyers and searches instructed by them.
01/4 - Homebuyers report received. Minor issues (lack of gas service report / electrical safety certificate / leaking conservatory roof which is being repaired under insurance). It's a modern house so these things should be fine.
02/4 - questions re. survey sent via solicitor
7/4 - chased via broker, no updates from Nwide other than "should be fine, will be passed for final checks tomorrow"
8/4 - No update
9/4 - chased via broker - same as above, still no update should hear tomorrow
9/4 - checked in with solicitor, draft contract sent to buyers, searches complete (look ok).
10/4 - no time to chase, no update.
11/4 & 12/4 - Tried not to think about it!
13/4 - Sent broker an email first thing, solicitors requesting mortgage info. Will chase by phone after lunch if no news.
This is tedious now, almost a month from full application. The porting application seems to be sooooo slow. We keep on getting assured nothing is wrong, you will get an offer - well just blooming do it then!!0 -
Time to join in methinks. Typing will save my poor fingers for a few minutes from becoming even more gnawed on...
18/02 - see a property that I love six months ahead of my personal buying schedule. Some jiggery pokery is going to be needed here so broker phoned immediately.... On at £195,000 (new build)
22/02 - reserve property for £500, for £190,000
25/02 - meeting with broker to go through my numbers. He tells me to stop worrying - I am a worrier. He deserves a medal
27/02 - AIP from Santander, subject to Help To Buy EL approvel
04/03 - application for H2B EL submitted
23/03 - application for H2B EL comes back as inexplicably declined due to affordability
24/03 - application for H2B EL resubmitted
26/03 - H2B EL Authority to Proceed obtained. Waiting until April to submit formal mortgage application due to timing of new build completion
07/04 - broker sends me two Santander quotes, to choose fixed term length (2 or 5 year) - confirm 2 year. Formal mortgage application submitted.
13/04 - email from Santander asking for proof of bonus payment from 2013. Provided.0 -

Good luck! Same sort of timeline as myself and my partner. I'm self employed on top of my regular day job... the HMRC have had to re-send my SA302s as the others didn't turn up (I requested them 2 months ago!)
I'm hoping that this is the hold up on hearing about my mortgage as it's an easy fix.
Fingers and toes crossed, I know how you feel. I'm so scared everything's just going to fall through0
