  • STG you are in exactly the same place as me!! Are you going through a broker?? We are getting a new build as well and they want to complete on the 30th. Our tenancy in our house now ends on the 1st of April so after that we will be homeless!!

Our broker has said they apparently have everything they have asked for now and they should be satisfied and happy to proceed but we've still got to wait the 48 hours for an offer. Its a nightmare!

EDIT: Just realised you mentioned a broker!

Yes we have a broker, we are overdue by 7 days with the developers- Redrow, they wanted us exchanging within 28 days but no such luck. Redrow have also said it will be no sooner than 2 weeks after exchange that we can complete due to the legal work that will need sorting so as there is no movement there we really need this offer this week! I'm told you can request a electronic copy so at least you can revie but not sure if this is possible with Nationwide, never done this before and I don't think I'll ever want to move again!

I've spoken to the solicitors and the sales chasers this morning and they've got no problem doing exchange and completion on the same day. But our completion date is fixed at the 30th. Its scary!!!

I know what you mean! If we do get this house I'm never leaving! And I've not even started packing and stuff yet!

I'll be happy once I get the keys in my hand and not before!

All I know is Redrow say they now need to give 2 weeks notice after exchange before completion, no idea why or what its for.

    Agree all very daunting!

Wow that's quick - sorry about the sale though, hopefully this one goes better!

I actually got a text today that the valuation had been instructed already, which is crazy (although I'm FTB so I have no idea what is unusual and what is standard). So it's now:

    12/3/15 Application submitted
13/3/15 Valuation instructed - underwriting marked as complete on the tracking portal

    Update!
12/3/15 Application submitted with Woolwich / Barclays
    13/3/15 Valuation instructed, underwriting complete
16/3/15 Valuation arranged for the next day between 9am and 2pm
17/3/15 Mortgage offer issued in the afternoon!

Waiting until I get the actual offer in my hands before celebrating (I didn't get a chance to check the postbox last night) but so far (touch wood) I am rather impressed.

For future searchers, this was for a Woolwich mortgage for a FTB with a straightforward credit history (no existing loans, credit card paid off every month etc.), and 37% LTV.

    Update..........................

Had a call from our Mortgage Broker about an hour ago. Mortgage approved - can i get a whoop whoop!:T :j
Massive shout to our broker - made the whole experience much less painful than it would have been without one thats for sure. Would recommend using a broker any day of the week.
Good luck to all those still waiting and see you on the 'waiting to exchange' board soon :D

    Well done and congrats!!

Chased up mine today with another mortgage advisor and despite speaking to the mortgage advisor who assured that mine was with the underwriter following further information, it turned out that it was not with the underwriter....and not even on their system other than waiting for additional information. This mortgage advisor apologised and said she could not comment as to why it was not sent but should have been. Resent her ither information which I sent last week so I am not yet again still waiting :( looks like another week!!

Thought I'd give an update of my experiences with Post Office (Bank of Ireland)..

Application posted Saturday 7th March (received by them Monday morning).

Had our offer on Wednesday 17th March!

We are FTBs, early 20s, recent graduates, applied for a large mortgage and all without a broker. They only requested a few payslips; no bank statements and no interrogation interviews as some have mentioned on here. The whole process was a breeze.

I would definitely recommend them, communication has been excellent, SMS updates at each step and a superb customer services department ready to answer any queries!

EDIT: also it's worth mentioning our credit ratings are both spotless. My partners is 'Excellent' on Experian, and mine 'Fair'. However this is only due to me opening a new credit card a few months ago.
  • 18/02/15 - valuation received
19/02/15 - mortgage offer in the post

Santander have been quick throughout the process.
    So excited now !!!!

Well today was supposed to be our completion day but we haven't even exchanged contracts yet!

My Solicitor has done the local search and noticed that the house is near a quarry. I said it has been there for around 20 years and even the valuer mentioned it in his report. The solicitor has written to Santander for the valuer to confirm he has taken the quarry into consideration and has faxed him plans and details! I'm so worried if he come back and under values the house now. I feel like our house is slipping away :-(

Sat her waiting for a response since 16th March to be told its only just been sent to the valuer today.
