Might be doing this the wrong way round, and it seems that might need to apply for the mortgage now by reading this thread..
June - BTL/Mortgage in Principle sorted.
29th June - Offer submitted
30th June - Counter Offer Received
2nd June - Different house viewed
3rd July - Offer Accepted
7th July - Halifax solicitor price matched
15th July - Surveyor eventually goes to property
waiting on the survey results before commencing the mortgage application for it.
Is this the right way to do things? Should we have gone mortgage then survey?0 -
We still haven't had our valuation, despite being told it would be Monday. Then we were told it would be Tuesday. Then they sad it would be by lunchtime today. Then by 4.30 today. Now they say hopefully we'll hear tomorrow from Nationwide.
In the meantime our vendor has been on the phone to us putting pressure on to name a date for completion.0 -
8/7 - Halifax DIP given last Tue
9/7 - Full application (via Broker) to Halifax this day last week, only one payslip requested.
10/7 - Valuation was instructed for 14th, £430 taken.
11/7 - Halifax request our P60's, sent same day.
14/7 - Valuation took place
16/7 - Was really hoping to hear something today, but no...
Looking on CreditExpert, no further credit file search has been done, only the soft checks on 8th/9th July.
Starting to worry as I'd heard Halifax were fast.0 -

Which surveyor are you using? Halifax only use Colleys, and as such your survey could be worthless and you're back to square one for the purchase.
Generally, the survey is instructed by the lender, not you, as it needs to be a surveyor they'll accept the report from.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Not worthless if it was a homebuyers report or structural survey although admitedly wrong way around. It will just mean needs to get a simple valuation survey from Halifax/Colleys. Plenty seem to get valuation survey then homebuyers later from somebody else anyway.0

Yeah, its Colleys ~ Both Houses.
The fee was paid to Halifax, who sent the Surveyor out. I suspect we are along the road of the mortgage, but a full final application has not yet be made, as i was out of the country and Mrs AO dealing with it.
I suspect its a case of a good survey back, then full application for the mortgage and appointment of the Solicitor. The solicitor provided a quote of £920 through Halifax, who when contacted directly dropped the price to £800 on a price~match.
There is some confusion over the mortgage, as i am sure it was a £650 cashback which was not mentioned to Mrs AO. I fully understand products change, and what is available at the time of application is what you get.0 -
To all waiting on their mortgage applications I wish you every luck....I had mine accepted at the beginning of June and it has just appeared today under ''your accounts'' on my online banking...to me this is so exciting...0
