ICICI Bank - Non-existent customer services

Options
Hello,

I think that the ICICI Bank is the worst bank I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

I have lodged a complaint on their website and twice via email in the last week and they have not bothered to even acknowledge them.

I haven't received any correspondence from them - I am shocked and appalled.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Thanks

I had an account with them a few years ago, never had any problems and only closed the account when the interest rate was no longer competitive.
  • Wow, we're in the same boat then. I was surprised that they couldn't be bothered to change the phone number on their automated emails to the correct number. It was the initial tell tale sign that their company appears to be an abortion.

I have emailed complaining about the fact that I wasted the money calling pointless numbers adding up to the amount I would have probably made on the account in a year in interest.

I too am emailing multiple email accounts and have used their online complaints portal. It's funny really, because actually using their complaints web page would lead to a complaint in itself it's that awful and confusing.

I would phone their premium rate line again, but the last time that I did, I couldn't hear the representative.

What kind of bank doesn't reply to it's customers?

Due to a delay in opening a saving account online I phoned the 0800 number to find that it had become 0844. I phoned that, and after a couple of minutes pressing buttons I got through to a real person. After hearing my initial request, he hung up on me. The second time I got through to someone else and he said that I should send them an email instead!
Ten days after acceptance I still can't transfer money into the account-and am now wondering if I really want to?
It may (eventually) be OK simply for a savings account, but I wouldn't want to trust the service level for anything more complex.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

You showed more patience with them than I did.

A later-than-they-said-it-would-be email response (that wasn't the email they said they'd send and that contained incorrect information), and their 0800 being an 0844 number turned out to be there 'three strikes and your out' for me.

Handling people's money is a serious business, and they don't seem to be taking it anything like seriously enough for my tastes.

Wish I'd known how utterly crap this bank is before I opened a savings account with them (only found out about them through Martin's top savings rates!). Three times I have emailed to ask how to set up a standing order from my ICICI account to my current account, NOT the other way round, as there seems to be no option to do this. Three times I have received stupid idiotic replies that indicate no one actually reads teh emails, and just now I had one saying they couldn't respond as I hadn't sent the request from my registered email - I had sent the message using their own bloody system! They are a shower and I am very surprised Martin is recommending them. I'm going to shut down my account.

I'm no expert, but I would've thought that it's not all that common for a savings account to allow standing orders. That's more of a current account type facility.

I appreciate, though, that the line between savings and current accounts--at least interest-rate-wise--is getting slightly fuzzier, with savings IRs being so relatively low.

Agree with Ologhai - there are very few (if any) savings accounts on the market that allow a standing order set up out of them

I gave up after trying to phone their foreign telephone line. That put them under suspicion straight away. Now they are emailing me to say my account is set up and they have my bank details. They say I am just needing to confirm. I don't like this at all as they wanted to speak to me before they got this far. Now they have decided they want my money.
