Good morning everyone
Late one for me as am off work today. Have had a really lazy morning just reading my book, so need to get some jobs done now.
Have a couple of ebay parcels to post and will call in the local charity shops to see if they have anything irresistible ... and cheap of course.
Pork with gherkin sauce, courgettes and salad for dinner. No idea what we are having for lunch but will find something in the fridge. Have plans at the weekend to make low carb sushi with not a grain of rice in sight.
I have never seen Hester's blog, old or new, but now I want to know what I am missing!

JackieO best of luck at the horse-piddle, mate. I so agree about taking a bottle of water with you; I object on principle to paying good money for something I can get out of the tap!:DI have treated the cats with frontline for their fleas but we are still getting bitten. Can anyone recommend a better treatment please?
My poor DD12 has been bitten to pieces, she must have lovely sweet blood lol.
Thank you for the kind words re Mary; all my canine friends are very special to me, as you know, and Mary was particularly so.

Morning all!
Dumpling, you need to spray the house too, not just treat the animals. Indorex spray from the vets was the thing that did the trick when our cat infested the house with fleas!
Need to pop over to MIL's, her sister and brother in law arrived last night for a visit, and if I pop over it will stop them from visiting here today, the house is a pit. I will need to get some hovering etc done before Saturday as no doubt the family will descend for DS's birthday!
Right, last load of washing has finished, better get it out, have a good day all!RIP Iain

You might need to treat the house, too, if the fleas have established themselves. We had an infestation some years back (before I started dog-sitting, I hasten to add; my guests are all squeaky-clean):o and we used some stuff called "4Fleas" which seemed to do the job. If memory serves, you spray the premises, and you and any pets need to vacate for several hours, so not sure how that would work with kitty-cats. HTH.

Oh Lame Wolf - she is beautiful. I know you made her last days very happy and you were always so patient with her xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all,
LW she was beautiful and very lucky to have you caring for her x
Just back from the specialists, in a bit of shock. Unfortunately I have severe osteo arthritis in my knee. He repaired the tear to the cartlidge but the knee was a mess apparently so will need a whole knee replacement in the near futuregutted.
Oh well I know there are people worse off. We need to get saving for a new car as I really need to be driving an automatic.
Hope you having a good day, keep hydrated.Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Oh no, Julie what a bummer. Dare I ask - are they putting you onto a list to have it done? I've driven an automatic for donkeys' years, and even when we took the decision to just have one car, we got an automatic so that I can still drive on occasion. I reckon a new car's an expense you could do without, though. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Afternoon all,
LW so sorry to hear about little Mary.
Julie,oh dear, sorry you'll need a new knee on top of your last op-hugs.
Only been dipping in and out of the Daily recently, was so busy last weekend due to the family get together, and this week have been at DS2s house doing the garden while he and DH have been working inside.Filled a skip yesterday with an old shed and aviary( complete with old feed and bird poo _pale_) & years worth of brambles and clematis growing through the garage roof. Its looking a bit better but needs a lot more work yet.I'm having a day off todayas I'm shattered and my hands and arms are sore with holding the hedge cutters.I found some raspberries and mini strawberries, but not enough to get excited about
Not much cooking going on as we're having salad every night.I like cooking but not in this heat .DS1 is going to Spain for a few days tomorrow,to a music festival so it'll be quiet.
Take care everyone x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Afternoon All,
JackieO - hope the assessment goes well for you.
Judi - stop posting me letters, my wife is getting suspicious!
Julie67 - you will be a changed woman after the op. A good friend of mine got that op recently and the relief from the pain was excellent. Recovery time was about 6 weeks I think. She hopes to get the other knee done next year (in her early 50's). I also drive an automatic, have done all my life, takes a lot of effort out of driving.
Another very warm day here today. All windows open and fans going, but still like a hothouse in the office. Roll on 5pm. _pale_
Had new Comber spuds with gammon for dinner last night - they really are a beautiful flavour potato.
Going to be good (to myself) tonight - a large corn on the cob, washed down with a cider or two (for medicinal purposes!)

Thanks everyone,
I've got to have physio for 3 months, the consultant said it needs doing fairly soon and there is hardly any waiting list but my son has a baby in October in Australia so want to see him first as I won't be able to fly for 6 months.
Your right LW we could do without the expense but our car needs replacing anyway, so two birds one stone and all that!
Not too upset now I've thought about it, and I've heard great results, (nar I suspect I'm going to need the other knee doing as well)
Just puts my plans on hold for looking for a job at the mo but as my hubby says we will manage, we will have to.Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
