This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all,
Another beautiful day :T I slept a bit better, but had a night of really strange dreams, have been awake for ages.
Off to work today lets hope the day passes quickly, dinner tonight will be something with chips, maybe egg and beans.
DD is off again today so can clean through for me, Tesco delivering tonight.
Hilstep you remember to take it easy x
Have good days all and remember the birds water please

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Brilliant sunshine and already very warm here. Washing in the machine, will put on line later. Plants watered.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was a real mixture, menfolk had skinny chips, sausages, LO cauli/broc cheese or green beans, I had LO mash, sausages, LO cauli/broc cheese, green beans and gravy. Tonight will possibly be HM quiche (I have got pastry already made in the fridge) and have plenty of eggs, bacon and cheese that could do with being used up - will serve that with HG salad, potates etc.
Have all the normal chores to do but will plod along at my own pace - I don't mind it being this warm but it's ok as long as you don't have to be doing anything in it and can just sit and relax! Will try to tackle any ironing before it gets too hot or may leave it until later/tomorro.
Had a small win on the Euro on Tuesday night - which I collected yesterday morning.
Have a good day - remember the suncream if you're out in the sun!
Keep safe and well x

Morning chums I have a hospital pre-assessment appointment today so I shall take a book and a bottle of cold water with me.I object to paying silly money for a bottle of water in the cafeteria. Its supposed to take two hours !!! can't imagine why, still I'm not one to argue.
I shall also pop into Dobbies garden centre this morning at 9.00 as their sale starts today, and the garden chairs that were £50.00 yesterday their assistant told me would be reduced to £15.00 this morning.I am hoping to snaffle two for my DD:)
Hope you all have a great day and manage to keep cool
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Morning everyone :j
I feel a lot better today, back to 'normal' anyway lol.Didn't sleep very well because of the heat but will pop back to bed later if I can to catch up.
Hubby packed off to work and just chivvying the girls to get their lunches ready. Cleaned out and fed the animals already and emptied the bins. Not sure what else I'm doing today except I need to get over to Tescos and pick up a parcel. I think I have some washing to do and I would like to have a go at making an orange and coconut cake.
I didn't see eldest DD yesterday so I hope she pops in today. She is going out on the weekend to celebrate with her friends on what would have been her wedding day if her ex hadn't done the dirty on her. She is coping really well though and is an excellent mummy to her children. I'm not sure if we are babysitting or if they are going to stay with their dad for the weekend. It's heartbreaking as neither of the children want to stay with him and both cry their eyes out when DD drops them off.
I have treated the cats with frontline for their fleas but we are still getting bitten. Can anyone recommend a better treatment please?
My poor DD12 has been bitten to pieces, she must have lovely sweet blood lol.
I am going to make chicken fajitas for tea. I'll look out for some lactose free cream for them as my hubby can't tolerate milk and I love sour cream on a fajita!
Well, that's all my rambling for today. Hope everyone has a great day and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Good morning
Another hot one here already. Not looking forward to work (in a metal hanger) as it gets so hot.
Dumpling - I gave up on Frontline a while ago as it just wasn't working. I now use Advocate - but you have to get it through the vet (or at least I seem to have to). It is (of course) more expensive than Frontline, but is effective.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello!
Been lurking around for a few days catching up.
Still busy running our little town but things have settled down now I have a new, very supportive assistant.
Health problems nearly sorted - got to have another small op to remove a 2nd parathyroid gland but consultant says we can have our long awaited trip to Kefalonia first. Can't wait as it's been two years since we had a decent holiday!
Can't believe it's been a year since my cancer scare. The lump turned out to be cryptogenic pneumonia! Pity they had to remove a bit of my lung to find out!
I've now lost over 3 1/2 stone - mainly due to basic home cooking. Been following SW with a friend but it's all down to common sense really
Anyway, enough about me! Hugs and kisses to those in need.
Hope to pop in more often.
Have a good day everyone!:j New Year, New You = 1.5lb/12lb:j0 -
Morning everyone
Hot and sunny here
Lots to do today so I'm hoping the heat doesnt affect me like it did yesterday, DS is home today - he wasn't well in the night, seems fine now but keeping him off just in case.
DH is at home today too so I'll have my work cut out keeping to my job list and not being distracted by the men :]]
Ice lollies are in a pile in the bottom freezer drawer, help yourself :]

Morning All
Kazzaw - Well done on the weight loss, hope you enjoy your holiday.
LW - Sorry to hear about Mary, you were a good friend to her.
nmlc - Well done on your win!
JackieO - Hope the hospital appt goes well.
Hugs to those in need (and even if you're not!)
Didn't sleep well again last night, not sure why, maybe the heat. It was lovely and cool here this morning and the sun was shining at 5.45am. It has clouded over now but still warm. Hope the weather stays good as I have stripped the covers off one of the sofas.
Off for a haircut this morning and then getting my eyebrows waxed and eyelashes tinted - they are so fair it looks like I don't have any unless I wear mascara but it will save me from wearing any on holiday.
Doing my bit at the hospice this afternoon and then have a night off the dreaded evening job - it's so hot in the laundry and vans but most of the rooms have their air con on so that's not too bad.
Not sure what's for tea, I had a chicken korma for tea at work yesterday and made DD sausage and mash to heat up when she got in.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
up with the lark I was this morning.... well before the men got up anyway as I wanted to post a letter and peg the washing out before it got too hot.
I had a message from one of my closest childhood friends on FB last night. Her son was last week diagnosed with End of Stage Renal Failure. I'm numb. This and the death of my neighbours youngest son is another reminder that you never know what is round the corner. My friends son is now having dialysis and is now on the transplant list.
Pork loin tonight and I want to try the men out on some garlic dough balls. I'm hoping just one or two as an accompaniment will make a pleasant change.
Hope all goes well at the hospital JackieO.

Morning all,
Is Hester giving away gold bars on her blog:rotfl:
Anyway busy day planned as I have a hospital appointment for my leg, 6 wk check up and then another root filling this afternoon, sounds crazy but can't wait to have the filling done I am sick of the constant low level pain.
Dh has been to do his work already so he will ferry me around today. I am fasting so no breakfast will try and have a salad for lunch wherever we are and then just a small 100 cal snack later.
For those of you unaware the open golf started this morning. This means I will only be able to elicit monosyllabic grunts from my DH for the next four days. He has already told me not to involve him in any plans for the weekend. If he's not glued to the telly he will be on his phone. I should be used to it after 30 yrs but it drives me mad:eek:
Anyway I shall have the car at weekend so shall potter about in peace. I've seen a volunteer job for just one day a week that I'm going to enquire about. I can't seem to even get an interview at the moment. It feels like at the grand old age of 46 I'm on the scrap heap. At least volunteering I will be doing something useful.
Onwards and upwards, have a good day all xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
