Pay pal Question

I have managed to set up a paypal account and do the basics with it, but i have a few questions.......
Once deposits from buyers have been made to your paypal account is there a cooling off time period that they can retract their payment for example. Also do you have to actually transfer them from your paypal account to your bank account or does it do it automatically? If not how do you do this transfer to bank account.
I tried looking in the help but it gave me a lot of irrelevant subject topics
Thanks in advance

payments cannot be retracted or recalled as you suggest, they can be 'disputed' for item not being received or not being as described.
if you have funds in your paypal account from other buyers having paid you, then these can be 'withdrawn' using the withdraw link in the navigation menu at the top.
50p charge for withdrawing amounts under £50, free for amounts above that0 -

Thanks,
Does withdrawing mean sending amounts from paypal account to bank account??0 -
yes it does
did you think it means you withdraw as you would from an ATM and the notes come shooting out of your floppy drive?

haha:D if only computer drives were made that way, maybe someone will invent a ATM linked computer based on our inspirational suggestions lol
i guess i was just checking it would be me doing the 'withdrawing' as opposed to a buyer or paypal, just a bit unsure when it comes to paypal, but cheers for your help.

Could you help please at the moment I use either cheque or postal order when I pay. What is pay pal like? Is it safe? Not sure from reading some of the other threads if I would be better just staying as I am.
Cheers Nicky
Paypal is great when it works.
Unfortunatly paypal is also the payment gateway choice of scammers as it leaves no trail.
If you're happy as you are there's no real reason to change, but if you do just tap "paypal problems" into Google for a few hints to stay safe. The money, Dave...0 -

all I really want is the safest way possible to use ebay. I know there have been lots of threads about paypal and trouble with them. But I wanted to know if I would be safer using that to a cheque. I don't want to use it if they can take money when they want. If I pay my bill like suggested with a credit card. This to me looks like I would be better covered. If I have read everything right. Thanks for any help and advice given

Nickyt you are going about this in the absolutely best way. You have looked at the options and considered the aspects...unfortunately not many people bother to do all that hence so many problems arising.
