My boys are called Aaron (NOT pronounced air-on!) & Sol.

I was going to be called Aaron if I was a boy.

I chose Sol after watching Snatch at the pictures when I was pregnant, it's short for Solomon but he's mainly known as Sol.

If I had another boy now I would probably choose Caleb, I also liked Eli but apparently it's in Emmerdale now which puts me off.
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D

I've got 2 Emmerdale Dingle children  One of which was introduced about 3 weeks before my due date. When i heard what their name was I stood in front of the tv going 'You HAVE to be joking'
I went with it anyway and no-one has called them Dingles yet. :D

I love the random 3 letters that make up my 10 week old sons name - Kai, found it in a babies name book (the name, not my baby, lol) & had never heard it before, now I found theres loads. His full name is Kai Peter John, I chose the first name, OH chose the middle names, John is OH's dads name, & also a middle name passed on down the boys in my family, he thought having Peter would be nice for me as its my Dads name who died when I was 18. Kai's Grandad likes to call him KP nut now though, lol.

My other son is Zackary Jevon, shortened to Zack. Jevon is welsh, I think it was meant to be pronounced Devon, but with a J replacing the D, but I pronounce it J-Von. I always wanted to name one of my children Zack after hearing it on "saved by the bell" & thinking it was a lovely name, lol.

If Zack had of been a girl he would have been named Tacita-Lea (pronounced ta-see-ta), if Kai had been a girl, with OH's input it would have been altered to Tessita-Lea. Lea spealt with an a not an e after my Grans maiden name.

I like middle names for when Kids are in trouble, always good to yell a long name, lol

The criteria that we had for our DDs was that a-it had to be an uncommon traditional name, b-easy for them to learn to spell, and c- a name that would suit them throughout their lives. I'm a midwife and cringe at some of the names parents come up with - not so bad for a little one, but when they are 70 and drawing their pension then the name may not be so apt.

My friend has a son called Tyler, when she had her second son she couldn't choose between Zack and Kai, so called him 'Zackai'...
There are 3 Kai's in our village, all under 6, so one mum at the age of 3.5yrs changed her Kai's name to his middle name...Freedom.

That must have been very confusing for the little boy .. having his name changed at the age of 3.
  • and you can guarentee he wont ever thank her for it anyway!

im with Inkie, kids get named terrible things these days, i suppose we have to blame the celebrity trend for it

To be honest he doesn't seem bothered at all, he's 6 now. And the funniest thing, is that I have 2 girls in his class, they heard the word 'Freedom' on the TV, and fell about laughing. We asked them why they were laughing, and they said 'Freedom's a name, not a word!!'
So it seems kids are far less judgemental and more accepting than us adults.
Although my friends son Wilde, has got to be the most timid, quiet child I have ever met!
And Axel just makes me think of Axl Rose!!!
There is an Axel in our village, he's 34.

We are having baby no3 and I just don't like any names as much as dd and ds. In fact there is huge trouble naming a boy as dh knows an idiot/pratt by just about every name I like and the rest are too biblical apparently! He's getting really narrow-minded in his old age!
  • This thread has been an interesting read, having just found out I'm having a boy :j

It is so hard to choose, knowing that it's forever (well except for Freedom's mum!).

We both really like Jacob, but it would be shortened to Jake and my step-brothers first son is called Jake so that's out...
Also Alex, but probably too popular... Isaac, maybe, I like it more than OH does. Jared, possibly. Jonah or Jonas again we both love but is this getting popular? Also not sure about people shortening it to Joe.
I love Conor, OH hates it

That's as far as we get, then we go around in circles.. and this is with 3 :o baby name books...
