The online sellers don't ask for ID as they are selling show plates even if they do have the correct marks, postcode, etc to make it appear legal.
This was featured on 'Fake Britain' on Monday 15th July.
Plates showing car manufacturers logos, football club logos etc. - all illegal.
There are plate suppliers on the Bay of E who are not even based in the UK offering 'custom' plates where you can have litterally anything displayed on the plate instead of the accepted EU stars and the coupleof other genuine options.
The spacing of letters and numbers to spell words is also illegal and that is widely ignored too.0 -
^^ I've been looking at some of those sites, you can order legal plates without any ID or V5.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Yes they might appear legal but they are not as the maker is not a registered plate maker with DVLA.0

They come with the makers details as required by law.
They sell them as show plates so you can add logo's etc. But if you specify a standard legal plate type with no dodgy fonts and spacing they are as legal as one from anywhere else.
I saw the fake britain show. They sell a lot.. I wonder which ebay trader that was as a few vanished at the same time.
The only issue is you having to supply documents, But a thief will just nick your plates or make their own anyway.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Can someone with an address in Dublin say - or Budapest - just for example - be registered with the DVLA?0

Nothing to do with the UK. Scotland and NI have no requirement to require the display of documents before plates are made up0
