When a rep from sky knocked on my door a couple of years ago I was on my own; my hubby was working away from home. In short - the rep encouraged me to sign up using a relatives name with my bank details. He said these could be changed when hubby was home. Yes we changed the DD to my husband’s account but the name? No way could this be changed! The reason it was suggested was because the rep said I owed Sky a small amount of money from the last time we were customers. The amount? Less than £13. I wanted to pay this that night. I had no idea I owed any money. I did not want this debt on my credit rating or on my mind. But no he said, why pay when you don't have to? Just use your debit card and use someone elses name! I had no idea this could be done. He asked if I had a sister, he said use her name. He suggested if I could get in touch with my husband he would pretend to be him to the sky operator and use my husband’s debit card details! I said no way would my hubby agree to that. So he said just use your card details and instead of using your name use your sisters. He said that when my husband came home the name on the account and the direct debit could be changed (I explained that I did not earn enough to pay any bills and my hubby paid them all) I have had an ongoing dispute with sky because I want to cancel the account now but can't as only the person named on the account can do that. Well I am not the person on the bill so we are still here! Why should I lie anymore? Yes the easy solution would be to do just that. But sky put us into this situation they should get us out! How embarrassed I was last December when my B-I-L asked why our telephone number was listed in the phone book under my sister’s name; he had been looking for addresses for his Christmas cards and there my sisters name, with our address and our phone number! How to explain that. Did my B-I-Lthink we were up to no good? I was also so annoyed as I had requested ex-directory when the rep signed us up! Well I have a good relationship with my B-I-L and sister they were ok about it but did say I should complain. So should I contact my bank about this? Sky have told me more or less it was me that agreed. I wrote a letter of complaint - it was forwarded to their Legal Dept! Why? Did they realise this was very wrong? When the Legal Dept phoned me the lady implied I was looking for some monetary compensation! I was so angry at her comment and I told her so. Well what can be done? Did the sky rep break any law? Did he encourage me to break any law? I would love some feed back...

Only if you were intending/attempting to commit a fraud - you can call yourself whatever name you wish.0 -
First of all the punctuation was not like that when I posted! I signed the contract in my Own Name; not my sisters. The rep did not want to return or wait until my husband would be home. He wanted a sale that night. I offered to pay what I owed Sky, it was less than £13. The rep insisted I did not have to pay. The letter of complaint I sent to Sky was forwarded to their Legal Department. It was they who - or whom? Correct my grammar - contacted me by phone. I have never had anything in writing from them. When I requested this they said no. Perhaps to avoid admitting their rep was wrong? The reason I posted this was to find out if anyone else may have been in this situation. I did not in any way deliberately commit fraud. For £13? Anyone know how to deal with Sky? That's all. Thank you...0

I did sign all documents in my own name, with contract and letter to them. They know the situation fully; it was all in my letter. I do think their rep was forceful that night. He could have returned a few days later when hubby would have been there to sign up. Is this not an example of Forceful door step selling?0

You signed of your own free will. No one forced you to do so. All you had to do was close the door.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You've done it with this post as well.
I have used my "return" key to make paragraphs in your post.
Look on your keyboard for a button called "return" or "enter" and it will allow you to leave lines and make paragraphs. When you use paragraphs it makes it much easier to read.
It looks like this:====0 -
Is this an exam I'm sitting? Do you judge people on how they present their posts? I just wanted to get my situation across not to get bombarded with comments about my abilities! Or Lack of them. I don't need any schooling on how to use a keyboard, I use one everyday @ work; oops sorry at work! I am no dumb ill educated individual that your comments make me out to be. If you find them hard to read then don't read them! Now where was I? Yes back to the problem; is that not what this forum is for? Seeking advice? I have been in contact with sky via their help forum; looks like a legal matter as they have removed my post and are dealing with it ASAP. We are in conversation to resolve the complaint I made. Talking of said; would you like a relative of yours to be in this situation? The rep was wrong; he gave me wrong advice; it could happen to anyone. I am not in the habit of committing fraud; I don't need to. And for £13? It's laughable...0

I've only read the first 2 lines so apologies for missing anything.
Many people access the forum from small screen devices, if you want help you need to make it possible for people to read your posts.
Posting without decent punctuation and paragraphs makes it very difficult, ask yourself, why should people try and help when you are making it difficult?
Why is it so difficult to just hit or touch "Return" every few lines?====0 -
Kurtis_Blue wrote: »As stated above the advice was to help you in your posting, not sure why the attitude.
You are correct, I would not want a relative of mine to use my name on documents just because a random stranger told them it would be OK, however none of mine would do that.
Because you and yours are such super intellects? I appreciate people trying to help; but help with the problem, not negative comments about my posts. It looks like the same old same old. Typical Forum members belittling others not worthy of help but plenty criticism about something else. It's obvious that there are people out there on these Forums just to pick holes; sad, sad peeps; get a life! Hope your still with me by the way. Yes you are; good! O well I don't have time; I just hope that
someone will get some knowledge from my original post. Don't be fooled by Salesmen/Women... :j0
