Thanks for all the replies, I will contact seller, and also put a steering lock on.

I feel better now just thinking I can get police involved if any funny business.

Shill bidding is rife on ebay motors. Was bidding on a cheap car from the local chip shop owner. Was highest bidder right until near end when someone else bid trying to bump the price up. Only they failed and this shill bidder ended up winning it. I got a second chance offer less than a minute after it ended.

Are you sure you are correct regarding the date of the other auction? What I have seen time and time again is cars being 'sold' to the highest bidder (shill bidding) who is their friend or altered ego and then the idiots give themselves good feedback not realising that it can be tracked and they then realist the car in the hope of getting a real sale.

Hope you told him he'd had his chips!
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

I didn't accept his second chance offer out of principle plus I had found something better to bid on. :)

That's what I hate about ebay motors, people list cars on 10 day listings then 3 days later bids are cancelled and listing removed because they sold it out of ebay. Time wasters if you ask me.

Also I laugh when private sellers take a part ex then list the part ex for sale saying it is an excellent driver, nothing wrong etc etc. How do they really know when they have only owned it 5 minutes and only driven it up their drive!

Should have said it wasn't an auction. Was a small time dealer also.
But i have bought cars on auction listings also.

I said to the guy do you want me to carry on bidding to make sure i win. Nah he said he will get a mate to bid on it.

The person that wont it had already been pushing the price up. Naughty boy.

It's a good money saving idea actually, stop the auction early and sell off ebay and you don't incur and final value fees, pees people off a little but cash is king as they say.

That's why I don't see the point in listing banger money cars on 10 listings. 3 days is enough as you don't get the bidders in till near the end anyway.
