Reasonable amount of time to wait for BIN buyer to pay?

I have my settings for NPB to be raised on day 2. I do state this in my listings and ask if anyone needs extra time to pay to let me know. I am not a mind-reader!

My BINs are all pay now.

I learned to set all my BINS to "pay now" after an experience like this - I was selling a game console for around £100 and really wanted to sell it. Someone "bought" it and didn't pay. What with waiting for responses it ended up being about ten days before I was able to relist the item. I was really mad about it since it was an in-demand item and I could easily have sold it to someone else in that time.

I generally send a polite note after a few days asking if they have forgotten to complete checkout. I am happy to hold an item for a short while if the buyer offers a reasonable explanation, but it's not fair for a buyer to think they can click BIN and have an item held for as long as they like. The seller is charged the 10% listing fee whether the buyer has paid or not, and could have sold it to someone else in that time and already had the money for the item.
