Reasonable amount of time to wait for BIN buyer to pay?

I foolishly didn't check the box requiring BIN buyers to pay immediately and somebody has 'bought' something and not paid. I have sent them an invoice requesting payment and offered to cancel if they've changed their mind and have had no reply.

They 'bought' it on Friday so it's only been 2 days and I know I'm being a bit hasty but how long should I leave it? It's a newly-released book that I listed on the release date and if I leave it too long there will be tons of second hand copies and I'll end up having to list it at 99p.

4 days then NPB. Don't mess around messaging them and offering to cancel. They've bid, if they don't pay, they get a NPB.

You can NPB as early as day 2- I tend to wait a bit longer but it is up to you whether to gamble or not.

Thanks, both of you, I was worried everyone would say I needed to give them a week or two. I'll give them until tomorrow just i case they're away for the weekend and then go the NPB route.

I would work on 4-5 working days.

If someone raised an NPB against me after 2 days (over a weekend) I would cancel.

Why would it take you two days to pay for a buy it NOW item in the first place? Don't pay, no contact = NPB.

Where does it say you have to?

No more than 48 hours. Message them and tell them to pay within time or item will be relisted and negative feedback left

The fact that eBay allow us sellers to open an NPB against non payers after 48 hours rather implies that that is not considered an unreasonable time frame in which to pay.

Not a particularly good idea. Unless the original sale is cancelled by doing a full NPB the original buyer remains the winner and can leave feedback, and also FVFs will remain payable.

You might also want to brush up on the feedback rules, it has been several years now since sellers have been able to leave feedback.

But where does it say it in the buyer's T&Cs?
